For my birthday, my husband got me a one-time deep clean from Maid to Clean. It was pricey, but they did a fabulous job -- my house has NEVER been so clean; they cleaned places I never would have even thought of! They were extremely flexible, too.

Fairway Building did an amazing job on our basement renovation, which included a playroom, bedroom, closets and bathroom. Bob Ryan, the owner, was fabulous to deal with, and Jimmy Sanchez, the lead on-site guy for our project, was wonderful -- no detail was overlooked! I can't recommend them highly enough.

I tried to give this company a zero rating, but the system wouldn't let me... We had Carpetland do our basement carpet (I was nine months pregnant at the time). As part of our waterproofing contract, we had to have the carpet tacking strips glued down-- not nailed down -- and we paid extra for this service, as the nails would void our waterproofing warantee. The installer showed up, I reminded him of the glue, and I could HEAR him nail it down. I immediately requested that he stop and called his supervisor, who claimed that I "didn't know what I was talking about" even though I could SEE the nails hammered into our floor. It took two weeks for them to get someone out to fix it and reinstalled -- and they showed up the DAY I was giving birth. Thankfully, they did end up paying our waterproofing company to come out to inspect and patch the holes they created, so that our warantee was not void. The actual carpet was good quality and at a good price -- but the installation service was HORRIBLE!!

We had our basement waterproofed by B-Dry before remodeling. They forgot to pull the permits (error on their part -- extremely frustrating!), but the owner spent the entire day down at the city pulling permits to get the job done. Of all the waterproofing companies we contacted, B-Dry had the best solution at the best price (though it was still extremely expensive!) We live in Del Ray, where wet basements are extremely common; my biggest complaint is that they only recommended waterproofing one area of the basement -- now we're having leaks in a different area. We'll be calling them back!

We had Fry Plumbing put in a basement bathroom (shower, toilet, sink; ejector pump). They did a fabulous job, and were wonderful to work with. And Mike Fry is a truly honest plumber -- later, we called him to hire him for a repair on a seperate bathroom, and he said it sounded like a simple fix, and talked us through it over the phone at no charge! I'd highly recommend this family-owned and family-run business.
