While there are some very good Tiger inspectors, I have found they are a little hit or miss unless you request someone specific by name. The inspectors tend to "overstate" issues in relation to the normal condition of comparable homes.

Economy, with locations throughout Boston, Brookline and Cambridge is famous for their "Midnight Madness" sales which provide customers with great prices on furniture and household appliances (a/c window units). We have a fabulous window air conditioner that was close to 50% off market price.

Aborn, located near Anna's Taqueria on Harvard Street is always stocked with everything we need for small maintenance issues around the house. Much more convenient than trying to find a Home Depot or other large store, the staff is always greeting you at the door and is very knowledgeable.

We hired Gentle Giant to help us move from our rental apartment into our new condo and both units were in old buildings on the fourth floor with no elevators. This move was done in the middle of July and the move was efficient and fast. After carrying our stuff the movers even helped us move out a piece of furniture the previous owners had left for us.

I hired Morrison Electric a few days after moving into my new condo. We were constantly tripping our breakers and we found that the majority of our condo was running off of the same line. A few quick changes to redistribute the wires in our panel has since solved the problem. Not only is the situation fixed, but we learned a lot about our future upgrade options.
