We hired David & crew based on a neighbour's recommendation and like an earlier reviewer, we wish we had quoted with another contractor before proceeding. We felt his original quote was slightly on the high side but David talks a good game so we decided we would be willing to pay a premium for the exceptional workmanship we expected from him. David & crew performed several very minor tasks and one slightly more involved project at our home, all of which eventually turned out adequately. We found however that as homeowners we had to continually look over their shoulders and question their actions to make sure tasks were being performed properly and to our satisfaction. Surprising, considering how cocky David comes across about his perception of his workmanship. Very minor tasks were added while David was on site executing the main tasks we hired him for. For example, we (naively) figured that attaching two new light switch plates couldn’t cost much - perhaps $10 for parts (which cost $2 at any hardware store) plus maybe $20-30 each for “labour” for literally 1-2 minutes per switch, would be more than adequate. Without any discussion of price, he made it sound as if it was no problem at all before proceeding. We were shocked when reviewing his final bill that he charged $100 per switch plate and $150 per plug – $500 for approx 10-15 minutes total work! Admittedly we should have clarified pricing before hand (and would NOT have proceeded) however the many HONORABLE contractors we’ve worked with in the past never left us feeling price gouged upon completion of a project the way David at Croation Electric did. We paid Davids outrageous invoice to move on with life but our experience with Croation Electric definitely left a sour taste.
