Exact same situtation as above. My Amana central air unit slowly ceased to work over the past few days. The technician sent out, though very personable basically put together a full shopping list of 'replace' items. Compressor, motor, capacitor, fan blades. I explained that the unit was working up until the day prior and based on several other HVAC providers assessments, it could not possibly be all of the above. Even the after hours Harding tech indicated it was likely a capacitor. Instead of replacing this piece or properly isolating WHICH component was causing the issue, he positions the repairs so you have to consider replacement. This is unacceptable. I have another company comping today to assess / replace the capacitor. If in fact this resolves the situation, I will be formerly writing to the BBB, Harding's head office and posting on every home forum to which I am a member. This is both deceptive and unprofessional. For this call, $90.00 for the job itself? "Oh, maybe 1300 but they'll call to let you know." Given they were the original installers and held a sizeable contract with our builder, I would have expected far more. No one likes to be played a fool.

Approximate cost of services:
$90.00
