Complete Flat roof replacement
We had a leak in the ceiling and within 2 weeks of shopping around and deciding on City 1 Roof Works the work began. I wanted to completely remove the plywood base of the flat roof but City 1 Roof said they would only do so if it warranted it in order to save me money. What was especially nice was the cost to replace and remove the plywood was just a little above the cost of the plywood itself. I also needed the insulation upgraded for the energy rebate. Since the roof is flat City 1 suggested a sloped insulation product that guarantees that the water won't pool and gave me my R24 rating. They provided near daily photos of their work since I couldn't always be there to go and watch them work. When they needed to replace anything like the plywood and skylight they made sure I saw why the work needed to be done with photos. It was also helpful to have the photos when applying for the energy audit. City 1 was efficient, courteous, and clean. They slipped and stepped through the ceiling but made sure the repair work was done professionally.

- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- - Make sure to get daily photo updates of the work if you can't take the pictures yourself. - Don't rely upon the builder to make your flat roof with a slight down grade, install a system that makes the water run off the roof and gives extra insulation - Don't forget to ask to put a ridge between your roof and the neighbor next door if you are in a town home. The previous roofer made my neighbor's water run off their roof and pool onto mine - When possible remove the plywood especially if you had a leak. - When taking the plywood off have the pink insulation checked for moisture and remove if necessary. The extra cost will go a long way to prevent mold and mildew and improve heat costs - Expect the screws in the top floor ceiling to pop out and the drywall to crack during the installation if your house is old
