10/10

I've had my vacuum for a couple of years and I can't even come close to describing how thrilled I am with it's performance. If you're undecided about spending the extra cash in two years or less you'll be kicking yourself when you have to replace the 300.00 one you'll buy today because which ever other brand you'll buy won't work like your Dyson will. Ever! My daughter recently bought a Filter Queen and we put my "old" Dyson to the test. She used her new vacuum (after we messed around with dismantling the clips & opening it - then putting a filter in it etc). She vacuumed 10 square feet of her carpeting until she was satisfied that it was completely (1.75 minutes). Then I used my Dyson canister to vacuum the same exact area of carpet (57 seconds). We then dismantled her vacuum (I shoulda timed that too but I didn't), to check the filter for the amount of crap her vacuum had sucked up ( and I simply unclipped my see-through tank to see if it had picked up any additional crap her vacuum missed. Sure enough, I emptied out golden-retriever fluffy fuzz and a fair amount of white "dust-like" crap from my tank! Her response was, "my vacuum is garbage!". I have a lung disease, I don't want to breathe white dust/dander or whatever that was, how about you? I'm not done yet, well somehow I poked a big hole in the hose of my wand. So of course I duct-taped it up until it was air-tight (looked hideous) and that worked briefly but I had to keep re-doing the duct tape, know why? BECAUSE MY DYSON KEPT SUCKING THE DUCT TAPE UP INTO THE HOSE THROUGH THE HOLE I HAD PATCHED WHICH CHOKED THE HOSE TO THE DIAMETER OF A TOONIE! that was annoying but I didn't want to call and complain because I had no idea where my receipt was and couldn't remember if I had registered it when I bought it etc., etc. Didn't want the hassle I anticipated. Finally, the task of removing duct tape over and over outweighed any hassle Dyson Canada could throw at me so in the midst of another duct tape removal session I fired off a long-winded rant to Dyson Canada about their reasoning for using a "cheap ass hose" on an outstanding vacuum and to my suprise, I received an immediate response from a compassionate gentleman who requested I contact them. So I did. I bet I was on the phone with an equally compassionate woman at Dyson for a maximum of 3 minutes and my entire new hose an wand was being shipped that day and I didn't have to pay a nickel! She said it may take 7 to 10 days to receive it but It was at my door on day three! I couldn't believe it! How's THAT for customer service?!!!! I sure wish Mr Dyson would turn his efforts toward making a carpet shampooer now and if he does I'll be back to review that as well. .....Oh and by the way, that "cheap ass hose" I was whining about... Well it turns out the material it's made of was also used by NASA for the astronauts space suits. OOPSIE! In summary, Buy the Dyson - it's the best power tool a woman could ever own! T. Wills
