2/10

My family moved into a 10 year old Mattamy home, 3 years ago. The house is nice, and seems to be built well enough. I do though, hear from the nieghbours that the foundation cracks, which were present shortly after the original closing date, were never repaired. This was, in part, due to the original owners moving, before they could coerce/embarrass Mattamy Homes into correcting the situation. My issue with Mattamy concerns the plumbing. There are very few plumbing connections that can be taken apart with any type of wrench. All of the plumbing connections in the house, with the exception of the toilets, have been either cemented or soldered to the fixture or sink. This turns changing a laundry tub, the dishwasher, or a faucet set, much more complicated than it should be. I realize most of us are capable of cutting, and rebuliding, the water supply lines, and the drain pipe if we choose to replace the laundry tub, but I cannot understand why Mattamy wouldn't use the correct fittings? The impression Mattamy sends by saving approximately $20.00 on plumbing fittings, on a house in the $300,000.00 range (the house's originally price), is one of extreme frugality.

Approximate cost of services:
