Perspective Renovations of Ottawa (P.R.) is a general contractor for home renovations. We originally had a good relationship with the firm when they started adding an additional bedroom to our home, starting May 2018. The main part of the project was supposed to be 4 months, and be turnkey with all trades directly supplied by P.R. However, it turned out that many of the major activities were sub-contracted, initially without our knowledge and without our input. This created not only untold management issues and lack of coordination, extending the project to well over a year (It's still not finished as of October 2019.) but put us at risk of liens by unpaid sub-contractors. The verbally promised minimum weekly supervisor visits did not occur. Also, many of the workers that were sent were unsupervised and some even appeared still to be learning on the job, sometimes being sent to repair work previously completed. Major issues arose with the EIFS Stucco application which turned out to be so sub-standard it was determined to be un-salvageable by a consulting engineering firm. Although P.R. originally "owned" the problem, we are now stuck with remediation bill. We currently have a complaint filed with the BBB. We've heard from several sub-contractors that they were not paid, even though we were up to date with our invoice payments. Many little items remain undone, with unfulfilled promises for their completion. We've had no communication with P.R. since July, 2019.
