Moving entryway in a concrete wall and chimney demolition

Daniel was friendly and professional when I first met him and was thorough in his assessment of the job. He spent well over an hour to make sure his quote was accurate and he had a full overview of the job. He sent me an itemized quote, which was very reasonable, and went through it with me. Throughout the job, he sent updates and kept me abreast of the progress. His work is impeccable and he's a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Daniel for any masonry job.

Chimney Pointing

Extremely satisfied with The Stone Porch Crew.
Phoned for a quote and Mr. McCaffrey was here within a few hours, gave
me a quote and told me when they would come to do the job and how long it would take.
The crew arrived on the appointed day and finished the job on time.
When finished the cleaned up the site.

A truly professional job which is more than be said for a lot of tradespeople nowadays.
Many thanks for a job well done.

Thanks for the kind review, Mr McCarron. Sadly, you are right about the quality and reliability of some tradespersons these days. It's best always to hired licensed, insured companies. There are a lot of pretenders watching Youtube videos instead of actually apprenticing. We redo their work regularly.

Glad we could help, Andy. We would be happy to take on that lintel and brick work issue should you decide to put in that enlarged basement door.

Masonry repair

Daniel and his crew did a great job repairing and rebuilding a ragged door opening as well as replacing some spalling bricks at the front of the house. I really appreciated him taking the time to explain the how and the why of what needed to be done. True to his word, it was done on time and exactly the way he said he was going to do it. Wouldn't hesitate to work with his company again.

A second excellent project completed by The Stone Porch

Last year, I had Daniel of the Stone Porch re-build a degrading, listing chimney located at the rear of my house. (See my earlier review)
I was so impressed with him, his crew and the work that they did that I thought of no-one else for a second, larger, job that I wanted to do this year.
I had an exterior, ground to roof height chimney, with decaying brick and missing mortar sat atop an unsightly, water damaged concrete base. The literal "cherry on top" was a previously poorly re-built chimney in a kind of yellow brick that looked very out of place in my red brick neighbourhood.
Daniel came out, first thing in the spring, to discuss the project. He had terrific ideas and promised me that he could turn the Achilles heel of my home into what would be its' best feature. I completely trusted him and quite agreed with what he proposed. Daniel was sensitive to the age and architecture of my home and I agreed with his very good and helpful ideas. He backed up those ideas by sourcing his well-chosen materials.
Daniel suggested a natural stone base for the chimney and, to make it more of a focal point, thought of widening the base. He would then clad the rest of the chimney and replace this yellow brick chimney in the same Victorian style red brick that he had used on the chimney that he re-built last year.
The prep work was considerable and time consuming as the bricks had been painted many times over and some of these original bricks needed replacing in order to form a suitable base for the brick cladding.
Daniel found a beautiful, natural, stone for the base and he and his team cut it on site and laid it out carefully in a random, very pleasing pattern before installing it on the chimney base. A natural stone ledge was installed to divide the stone from the brick façade and higher up, to divert moisture away. At the last stage, the brick cladding was carefully laid and some waterproofing installed at the roofline.
Result? Daniel was absolutely right. The Stone Porch has turned something rather decrepit and unsightly into something that is beautiful, natural, and looks like it has always been there. And finally, they did a super clean-up and left the place neater and cleaner than when they arrived.
I cannot recommend more highly, Daniel and his crew at The Stone Porch.

Thank you Fiona for the kind review, again. The stone selections worked out beautifully, and the crew were very happy to return to work on your beautiful Beaches home. You have a grand old house. I am glad we didn't modernize it, at least aesthetically.

Porch Rebuild

We required the complete replacement of a brick and concrete porch on the front of our 90 year old home.
As a retired engineer, I was impressed with Daniel's careful planning, imaginative design and immaculate workmanship. I have full confidence in the durability of the new construction, thanks to the deep foundations and careful attention to drainage and soil conditions.
It also looks very good!

Thank you very much, James, for the kind review. We always feel a bit of pride when an engineer selects us over other contractors. We are glad that you like the work, particularly so as you are a very well-informed evaluator. Thank you also for recommending us to your next-door neighbours. They seemed to like the porch we built for them as well.

chuffed with my new chimney!

I contacted Daniel, owner of The Stone Porch, for a consultation and quote regarding an old, decaying, leaning chimney sat atop my 120-year-old house in the Beaches.
I was most impressed with his knowledge, skill and sensitivity towards my home’s age and style. After receiving his very detailed quote and feeling further assured by the knowledge that he was duly licensed and insured, I went ahead with the project.
Although the job of re-building a chimney sounds like a small one, I realized how wrong I was. After scaffolding was put up, Daniel and three crew members spent two days taking down, removing and rebuilding a new chimney.
What a difference a few days makes.
My falling apart, visibly leaning and water damaged chimney had been replaced by a solid, straight, beautifully laid, red brick chimney, topped with attractive and functional waterproof and animal-proof caps.
Additionally, Daniel had sourced a red, Victorian style and textured brick that matched perfectly the original bricks of the home’s period resulting in a new but original-looking chimney that will outlast me!
I highly recommended Daniel and his crew at The Stone Porch and in fact, I have a different project in mind to do with him next year.

Masonry and Parge Wall

Daniel and his team were a pleasure to work with throughout a tricky job that frankly neither of us anticipated. He presented solutions and kept up with great communication and kept the site tidy which is so important with shared driveway and managing neighbours. Unfortunately, I had set up the job slightly out of sequence with other repairs but Daniel kindly offered to come back at a later time to do a small/minor patch repair which is so appreciated after what he and his team did.

Excellent work

Incredible craftsmanship and pros all around. Daniel provided a comprehensive and detailed project plan for a difficult job. They executed exactly to plan and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product ..3 beautifully reconstructed porch pillars on a 120+ year old home. Highly recommended we are hiring them for our next stone project

Hi Geoffrey. Thank you for reviewing our work. Thanks also for having us back to do the concrete pad for your stairs, and the interlocking/retaining stone job. I think your colour selections were bang on, and I was very happy to see you pick it up with the carpentry elements you added later. Your house looks fantastic. I am glad we were able to contribute to it.
