Buyer Beware Student Works Window Cleaning

This company is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. This is an in compassionate, unsympathetic company only worried about their policies and not their clients.
This my story

Back in April we decided to get the siding, windows and gutters of the house professionally cleaned. As I just started a new job in February and everything was going well. I thought it would be ok to pay for this.
The young man we meet was Cole. He runs the Oakville Student Works Window Cleaning. He went through the work they would do and asked when we wanted the work done. We said then latest would be end of May. He said he could do that. He said they needed a deposit of $539.38 in the form of cheque. We asked can we put on the visa he said they don’t do credit cards. So we reluctantly handed over the cheque as it is a lot of money.

The second week of May He emailed me with details and said “ look forward to speaking with you soon” I emailed him back to see if when we are in the schedule for the for end of May. I never head form him. I emailed him on June 9th because of the lack of response. He emailed me back finally and said “ I haven't forgotten about you, 
I apologize, unfortunately, I'm running behind schedule this summer.
Overall, just issues with finding the right employees, I've been doing all the work myself as a result. 
I'm working on my schedule this week and will let you know as soon as we get you scheduled in. I replied to him “ thank you for letting me know”. As of June 26th we still had not heard from him. On Sunday June 27th! He finally got for back to me left a message. By that time I was in formed that I was being released from job. Loosing my job was devastating considering I just started 5 month’s ago. Due to company financial difficulties they didn’t have a choice I was told. I felt horrible and panicked and completely stressed out. Cole called back on June 28th told me that his mother passed away. Obviously I was very sympathetic and told him I understand now why I hadn’t heard from him. I continued to explain my situation and that I know the company does not normally give deposits back. However considering this situation that is not under my control or normal circumstances. I would be very great full if they would be understanding, seeing my unfortunate situation as well that I am
not asking for my money back simply because I have changed my mind and do not wish to have the service anymore. He told me he couldn’t do that because of their policy and said he could defer the service for a year or do some work for the deposit we put down. I once again explained to him we would be very appreciative if they could in this situation please refund our deposit. As this is a very stressful time for me and my family and it would be extremely helpful if the company could understand this considering the year that all of us have had. I told him it took me over a year to find this job and I don’t know how long it will take me to find the next. He once again just repeated him self. I told him he needs to call the head office and see what they can do as I would appreciate it.
He called and apparently they told him they couldn’t give us our money. June 29th I spoke with him. I asked him for the head office number . He told me there was no real number to call and there is no one to speak with. I found that completely ridiculous. And once again all I got was him repeating himself about the company policy and that he could Schedule us for next year or come and do $539 worth of work . I told him we are extremely disappointed and can not believe that this company can not see reason or have any compassion for a family that is going through hard times. I did my own research to find the company and the number online. I spoke with Samantha who remembered speaking with him. I told her the my story again. She said she is making a note of everything I am saying and would inform the District Manager. As she agreed that this was not a normal situation. But it was not up to her.
On June 30th he called me saying “. I understand that you called the office and I have been told speak with you again”. All we can do for you is what I explained. I told him this entire experience has been horrible and stressful and we will never deal with Student Works Window Cleaning nor will we ever recommend them. He said he didn’t even know the process of what he would have to do to get us our money back. I told him then he needs to speak with his District manager and find out the process. As Samantha told me “Cole would have to request it and then we would process that” all he said was “ mm-hmm”. And kept repeating that. It was very patronizing. I told him he needs to get in touch with his district manager and find out how this process would work. On June 30th he called me back and said there was nothing they could. I said to him, “so you’re ok with not helping someone who desperately needs it right now and this money would make a huge difference to us.” Once again all I got was “mm- hmm” and repeat of the company policy. I told him we didn’t want to speak with him anymore we did not want to work with him or have anything to do with Student Works Window Cleaning and I will be calling the office and asking the district manager to call me. On July 1st I called the office and spoke with Samantha again and told her the conversation that I had with Cole and that I only wanted to speak with the district manager from hear on. I was so upset I broke down crying. She was very nice and very supportive. On July 6th Copper the District Manager called and left a message for me. On July 7th I called him back. He said he knows all about the situation, however because of the no return deposit policy they can not give us back our deposit because they have to stick to their policy. I said to him “ even though this is not a normal situation and I have lost my job and we had no other problems with any of the other companies that we dealt with and they have given us our money back. With no problem because they understood the difficulties that everyone has been through this past year and half and wanted to keep us a clients for when we are in a better position. Does Student Works not want to do the same thing?” And all He said through my entire explanation was “ mm- hmm, mm-hmm.” He did not have anything else to say. And just kept repeating the policy and that our credit would be there when we decide to to go ahead with the job. I told him “ we will never deal with any Student Works business again.”’ He had the nerve to say “. Well have a great day Raquel and talk to you soon”. So they have not given us our money back.

I wanted to share my story as I don’t want anyone else to fall into this horrible position with a company that has obviously no conscience of how they effect people’s lives who are just trying to pay their bills these days and keep their family home going. This is a company that worries about only themselves and their bottom line. It’s despicable and disgusting to know that there are still companies such as this after what the people of this world have been through.
