My basement was built by Harmony in May 2018, yes.. TWO years ago and I am writing a review now, two years later. My reason for writing a review two years later is because during my time, I have worked with a lot of trades people and often I find that most trades like to do their work and quickly move on to the next job, not giving a care about the job they just completed. These companies don't stand by their final product, they will make it look good for the first few months and after that when a few items go wrong, they don't care to come back and fix it. Based on this experience, I decided to write my review of Harmony Basements two years later at the end of the two year warranty that they offer.

After two years, Harmony Basements STANDS BY their final product. Harmony has built the BEST, RELIABLE and ABSOLUTELY STUNNING basement that I and my entire family has seen. Most reviews like start from the beginning to the end of their project, but I'm going to do the opposite and start from my warranty coverage to the very beginning stages of construction.

Warranty/Customer Service: 10/10
What I find so great about Harmony was the fact that they care about their final product. During the last two years, I had two very minor issues with my basement which was a result of my own choice/mistake. I contacted Harmony to get these two issues resolved and they scheduled the repair days later. Most trades do not even pick up the phone when I call but Harmony takes their warranty and final product serious! One of the minor issues was my washroom faucet, it was leaking water. I did not use the faucet that Harmony provided, I used a Glacier Bay faucet (stay away from Glacier Bay faucets) and when I noticed the leak I contacted Harmony. They came days later to ensure that the leak was not coming from the pipes. It was a faulty washer in the glacier bay faucet, I wish I had used the Harmony faucet initially, but Harmony, actually caring about their final product removed the glacier bay faucet and installed a new faucet for me. They had no reason to change the faucet as it was not their own, but being the great and compassionate company that they are, they fixed it for me. This is one of the reasons why I absolutely love Harmony.. they have an amazing warranty coverage and amazing customer service.

Framing/Drywall/Taping/Insulation - 10/10
When I first met with Harmony, they told me that they were going to rip out my R12 insulation and install R24. I wanted to save some money and ask if they can just dry wall over the R12. Right away, they told me that thats not how they do things when it comes to their build. They made it clear that if I wanted that done, maybe Harmony was not the company for me when it came to building my basement. Right away after hearing that response I wanted Harmony as my builder. Most trades would say okay, but like I said before, Harmony CARES, they STAND BY their PRODUCT and they make sure they do things the RIGHT WAY and to CODE. Framing/Taping was done professional and on time.

Electrical/Plumbing/HVAC - 10/10
Done fast and professionally. After the install they did a very intensive quality inspection of the electrical, plumbing and HVAC before the taping/dry wall being completed. Everything was done to CODE!!!

KITCHEN - 100/10 .. yes 100 out of 10
Let's just say the finishing in our basement kitchen area is better then our upstairs kitchen! This is the 'wow' factor in our basement. See the pictures below yourself. Also, we made changes as the kitchen was being built, Harmony did an excellent job listening and helping us make those changes happen. They cared so much about how we envisioned our basement.

Entertainment Area - 10/10
In the picture below you will see 6 cubbies where the stone and t.v. is located. We told them to we wanted something to stand out and pop in this area and they made it happen. Our entertainment area looks amazing and it was all because of Harmony.

Claudio/Diego - 10/10

It is very rare to find people in the construction business to be honest and forth coming. I have been 'hustled' by so many trades people but Claudio and Diego are different. These two take so much pride in the product they give to their customers. They are honest and respectful and most importantly TRUTHFUL!! These are the people you want to invest in when it comes to building your DREAM basement. I'm very thankful to have them build my basement for my family and I. Thank you guys!

To sum it all up.. yes you have your other basement companies but they are NOT even at the SAME LEVEL as Harmony. Harmony said they would make my basement look better then the main floor and that's what they exactly did!

You want QUALITY and HONESTY.. go with Harmony!!!

We hired Harmony Basements Corp. after getting quotes from three other companies. Right from the start we were impressed with the design prepared by Diego. It was convenient to make selections at the Harmony showroom. The project started within 2 weeks and was a positive experience as the work crew showed up on time, worked hard to get the job done and cleaned up daily. The project manager, Claudio, provided good oversight and responded to any questions or concern. George, the framer and dry wall installer, worked long hours to keep the project on time and the team doing the taping and finishing did an exceptional job. From the electrical installers, who easily passed inspection, to the HVAC installer, flooring installers and plumber everyone was professional and knowledgeable. The result is a basement that enhances our home. This company has accountability systems in place so you can be confident they will do an excellent job.

All we have to say is that our experience with Harmony Basements was Great... from our first meeting with Diego to the final results.

Our meeting with the decor studio coordinator was also very pleasant as the manager and coordinator showed and explained all the options we had and wanted.

We had some ups and downs like any construction company would, but nothing major. we were always in contact with the project manager assigned to us and it was always prompt and efficient communication thought the project.

We now enjoy with family and friend a professionally done basement.
we would definitely recommend to others.

Some of our family has already hire them to do the same quality work as they did in my house.

My husband and I are very happy with the quality, commitment and respect that Harmony Basements have shown in our home from day one.

From the first meeting with diego We had all the options we needed and wanted. Harmony provided a good fit and design to suit our desire finish look.
Also the selections and the management was always attentive to our request, with great experience Sasha was able to guide us at their decor studio and finalize with best in class finishes.

Something Very important to us was that Harmony did accommodate all efforts to our needs - Wants and design.

Exelent work from Claudio’s team of managers, scheduling and communication was as expected from a profesional company.
It all worked out efficiently and professionally.

There were NO unexpected delays or people not showing up. Everybody was in the house as schedule.

before they even started the job All floors hallways handrail all steps and dust protection was set up to protect all aspects of the project.

This was our First renovation experience and did not have anything to compare to. How ever our designer Diego has shown all the experience needed to create and accomplish what we had in mind.
In terms of selections it was simple as all the options were available and shown in the decore studio.

The process during construction was conveyed to us in a timely manner although we did had a few days of no progress due to some lead time of materials and inspections, However the project itself turned out amazing.

Our family enjoy it very much.

We have recommended Harmony to others for their quality work done to our basement and customer service provide when needed.

I will try to keep this review brief, hoping not to bore the readers. I signed up to finish my basement in early Sep 2018 with Harmony with expected completion in 6-8 weeks. The project finished at the end of Nov 2018.

Overall, I am satisfied with the final job, although few things could have been done better. The basement looks nice.

I am not entirely satisfied with the process that took to get this job done. At one point, I was even thinking of cancelling the work mid-way and taking legal measures, however, I decided to keep working with the company in good faith. It was also encouraging that the owner of the company tried his best to fix the situation.

Harmony sent 3 guys to do the framing and drywall. This soon turned into a horror show (one that you see in reality TV shows sometimes). These guys totally butchered the work and I have detailed pictures and videos to prove this should it be necessary. The framing was not straight. the Ceiling was caving down in the middle. At one point, they almost tried to skip the sound proofing part. I had to get my mom to supervise them round the clock because trust was broken. The plasterer came and could not fix the problem. The errors were so extensive that another framer was sent to literally redo certain parts of the framing again. Of course, unfortunately not everything was redone so I still have to live with less than a perfect job in some areas of the basement. The plumber also made several errors but finally got the work done.

Moving forward, the plasterer was great, he covered much of the mishap that was left behind by the initial framers. The work was further delayed by a number of days where no one showed up. The flooring, bathroom, and kitchen part was done without much problems. The door casings were ordered wrong, but they immediately rectified this and reordered the right ones. I was not too happy with the flow of communication between the office and the project manager but I guess that happens. The project manager was helpful. I had to be very strict with him to ensure that things got done the way that I wanted them and to ensure I got the quality of work that I paid for. He was accommodating and courteous which was very helpful.

The office manager was very helpful with selections. I wasn't happy when some orders were not exactly as they appeared on the website but she adjusted the price accordingly. There were days when my emails weren't replied promptly or in some cases at all, but this could have been due to frustration on their part since the project didn't go as planned and/or I may have been deemed too demanding. In any case, the platform (Buildertrend) through which communication was done and the work was followed was very helpful.

I learned a lot from this experience and here are a few suggestions:
1. do your research, get consultations from many companies before signing up with one.
2. stay highly involved in your project, especially when you pay so much and/or if you plan to live in the place and enjoy it.
3. take some time off work and supervise the important steps ( framing, drywall, and electrical/plumbing work. essentially the steps that are covered and you cannot see later how it was done.
4. keep documents and proof of the work progress, in case things don't go according to plan and you need to take legal action.

Lastly, I still want to thank this company for finishing the job even though it took longer than expected and was painful at times. I have been quite diligent and thoughtful with the score I gave them. I hope that they read this review and use this as a constructive feedback and not be offended in any way.

First meeting with designer was great. Selection at decore studio was good with many different options.

Perfect finishes at main floor and basement finishing.
