Here is what happened:
Unexpectedly we were faced with replacing a broken condo heat pump of a very specific type during post-covid opening and major Ontario heatwave, when technician can pick and choose their appointments and many do so.
Called around a number of various HVAC companies and variously were quoted very high or dealt with incompetent intake personnel or were given useless far-off appointment dates. Some did not want to provide service, claiming supply chain shortages or being fully booked.

We got installation appointment in less than a week. Even though manufacturer /supplier erred and sent the wrong type of the pump, Home Trade Standards technician arranged to correct it and we had the pump installed and blowing ice cold air the following day.
