Duct cleaning

I just had my ducts cleaned and am considering going to a hotel tonight because my babies eyes are red and they are crying. Our house is full of dust and residue that you left behind. You told me that you had to cut 1 hole in my ductwork but "not to worry we will reseal it after". I assumed, as I am not in the duct cleaning industry, that was normal and said yes. I now have 2 jagged edged holes the size of side plates in my ductwork that you lazily taped up. TAPE! How long will that last before my family is exposed with dust and debris? As I said I am not an expert however, when you said reseal I assumed it would be a professional job with sheet metal, and screws and sealant since you are "professionals". Side note(but in hind site an indication of your true customers satisfaction and health concerns) your guys asked if they should take their shoes off which of course I said yes. Only one did. The other tranced through my baby's room dragging who knows what in.

Company Response

Hi There, It saddens us to know that you were not happy with our service and I would like to personally apologize to you for the inconvenience and frustration we have caused you. Please understand that every business has its own different and unique process and protocols, many of which include the same practice as ours. One of those procedures includes cutting an area located on top of the furnace to create an access point for us to connect our vacuum. Once that cut has been made we seal the opening with the original cut of plate and seal it with Aluminium Tape, as you can see from the picture you have taken. This is a normal procedure in order to clean your ducts and requires permission and acknowledgment from the home owner to under go the process in which you had agreed to proceed with. The aluminium tape is a specially designed tape that is commonly used in the HVAC field to seal any problematic areas in the duct or furnace. The aluminium tape is ideal for sealing hot and cold air ducts and has the durability to sustain the seal. I can assure you there is nothing to worry about and the cleaning was completed successfully, you may be experiencing dust residue from the furnace unit which may have a large amount of dust built up. As you can imagine to leave behind a large amount of built up dust and dirt in the furnace and A/C unit will result to a less efficient cleaning as well as excessive dust left over. Please understand that the furnace and A/C units are the main units that control the ventilation through out the home therefore it is very important that the maintenance of those units are regularly kept up to date with cleaning and tune-ups to ensure a more effective cleaning. There are many benefits of cleaning your furnace and A/C unit including a more healthier and breathable home, cleaner vents, the furnace and A/C will perform more powerfully and efficiently, etc. I also apologize on behalf of one of technicians who had walked in with their shoes, this is unusual and unacceptable behavior of our technicians and I can assure you that this matter has been dealt with. Our company has always treated our customers and their homes with diligence and respect, we only want the best for our customers. We appreciate your feedback and will be using your review as reference in our conduct in order to improve of practices. Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts and we hope this will clarify your concerns. Regards, Andrew.
