Stuart Black did a great job on tiling around our new gas insert. They also rebuilt an old mantle that we'd bought and made it really beautiful. Tobey even made us a custom base to fill in the bottom gap left when the fireplace installers had to raise the unit to accommodate outside electrical (we needed a creative solution and she had it for us). The work was done on time, on budget and to perfection. We are very happy with it!

Beth and Tobey are very, very good at what they do. They were punctual, hard working, efficient, and completely competent. They both have an attention to detail that I appreciated very much. Their cost was very reasonable for the quality of work and for the amount of odd jobs that I needed completed. They met their budget and completed the job in the amount of time that was quoted.

On top of it all, they left our house spotless! I had house guests over an hour after they completed their work - you would hardly even know that they were there, except that everything had a nice new sparkle to it.

Plus - they are just really good people: fun, happy, and lovely to talk to.

I have already passed on their names to many people. I confidently and highly recommend them.

What a perfectly pleasant experience! The work was quoted, the date was set, and Tobey and Beth executed all with efficiency and skill. No extra charge was incurred when the job took longer than expected, and on top of it all, they are especially delightful people. Our children would like them to come back! We will hire them again.

Tobey and Beth did an excellent job customizing our kitchen cabinetry. We had ordered base ikea kitchen cabinets but wanted some custom woodwork to surround the units. We had a general idea of what we wanted in our heads and they really helped us to figure out what would work in the space- not only functionally but also aesthetically.

Tobey spent a long time speaking with us to understand what we wanted before preparing a quote. The quote she did provide was outstanding- not only did she take the time to break down each item and estimate its cost, she even communicated how she came up with her totals by specifying her estimated time and material costs for each stage. No other contractor we’ve worked with has given us this much transparency and detail in any quote- it really helped!

Tobey and Beth always showed up when they said they would and made no promises that they couldn’t keep- rare in the contracting world it seems. They also cleaned up the work area very well at the end of each day so that we could use our kitchen as much as possible during construction.

We called Tobey for a number of small home repairs -- including a broken fan in the washroom, a running toilet, an issue with our kitchen faucet among a few other things. She did an excellent job getting everything resolved, made some additional helpful suggestions and emailed us later in the evening with a referral for a repair person who could fix our gas stove. She also installed a baby gate for us. Overall we were very satisfied with her work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her company.

Stuart Black Renovations did a great job. I highly recommend them. I needed a range of jobs done that included a bathroom reno, custom handrails, upgrading a staircase, painting and some other odd jobs/small repairs. They were very detail-oriented, clean, good communicators and got the job done on time and on budget. Living in an old house in downtown Toronto can present certain challenges. Once you start opening up walls, you never know what you will find. I appreciated that when a problem like this arose, Tobey came up with a cost-effective and creative solution. Their think-outside-the-box attitude is a real asset. I would definitely use them again for future renovations.

Tobey was courteous, punctual, and respectful. Her work was careful and tidy. She gave input as needed to help me make decisions about the project (replacing my kitchen facet), and had the job done in no time. I highly recommend her company for quality, affordable home renovations and repairs!

My small bathroom was renovated by Stuart Black Renovations. They were efficient, on-time, detail-oriented and cleaned-up after themselves. My bathroom needed an overall and they gave good suggestions to make it better and get the best use out of the space I have. Cost included materials, fixtures and labour.
