Bathroom rough-in, main drain replacement

While trying to obtain a plumbing rough-in for a new basement bathroom in my house, another plumber advised that the 50-year-old cast-iron main drain in my house was cracked and needed immediate replacement. Unlike that other plumber, Jiffy Plumbing's quote for the replacement work was reasonable, and more importantly the pricing structure made sense. To avoid ever needing to do such replacement again, I had them replace all of the cast-iron drain for ABS, which meant ripping up a very large section of concrete in my basement. Their work was done on schedule and on budget, and they kept me in the loop every step of the way. They were able to quickly identify and fix a number of other small issues with the plumbing in my house as well, I no longer have any low pressure issues nor pipe knocking from my appliances. They were also able to help me deal with an extremely picky city building inspector to ensure my plumbing passed inspection for the bathroom rough-in.

The only blemish on an otherwise perfect job was that the concrete they poured to fill in the holes wasn't finished very well; most of the hole is in a crawlspace where it makes no difference but the surface of one area in particular made it difficult to re-finish the floor. To be fair they stated at the beginning that the finished concrete surface was not going to be the same as the existing concrete pad, and generally speaking I don't think plumbers should be hired for their expertise in concrete finishing anyhow. I would recommend, though, that anyone planning to have a finished floor (especially when trying to match an already existing finished floor) ensure that the (trades)person that will be doing the finishing work in conjunction with Jiffy Plumbing to finish the concrete.

All told, I will certainly use Jiffy Plumbing again for any plumbing work I need done and I highly recommnd them. My experience with Matt from Jiffy Plumbing has been the best experience I've had with any tradesperson I've hired, regardless of discipline.
