Beaver Paving Ltd

I got an estimate from Joe to pave our front driveway and to do interlocking of the front porch. The price $6800 seemed to good to be true so we booked and gave a $500 deposit and booked it. He said it included replacing the interlocking porch and raising it, as well as the front step, and the driveway, with barriers for the sides of the driveway.
We then had some concerns about the side walkway and we asked Joe to come by and give us a quote for that. He said it would be an additional $3000. We said we would think about it and get back to him.
We decided to go ahead with the side walk way. So Joe came back to redo the contract. This is where things got weird. He said we should use a different material for the porch and raise it. He said to raise it would not be additional (This was already supposed to be raised) and then suddenly it was an additional $700 to raise it??? Then the original price did NOT include the front step and that would be an additional $1000 ???? He kept wanting to rip out one of my trees after telling him repeatedly I do not want him to touch the tree. Then he forced us to give him an additional deposit of $1500. We gave him a cheque. We thought about it overnight and decided these actions were questionable and wanted to cancel the contract. We stopped payment on the $1500 cheque we just gave him. After many attempts they still have not given us our $500 deposit. They will not answer our calls or emails for over a month.
Beaver Paving - I did not want to put a review on homestars but because you have been avoiding our emails and calls I have no choice. This is very shady behaviour. Please contact me today to discuss this further.
