I first encountered Isolde O Neill, founder and President of Getting it Together Organizing, when she gave a great organizational workshop at my workplace.
So, when I decided that I wanted someone to help me organize my apartment, I chose Isolde for the job.
Isolde was fantastic - she completely revolutionized my space for the better.
Her approach was two-fold:
- First Isolde came by to see the place and took the time to talk to me about things like: what I wanted, what was important to me, how I used the space, what my current organization style was, etc. Isolde then came up with some ideas, and we discussed how much it would cost. We then worked out what could be done to prepare the space for the organizing - for example, Isolde designed a highly efficient hanging and shelf system for my small closet. At this point, Isolde put me in touch with a talented contractor who fixed up the necessary areas of my place (like the closet) - the contractor did quality work at a reasonable price. Isolde and I then worked out a timetable, that worked comfortably within my schedule, for her to come by, to start on the next phase.
- Next, Isolde came by and got to work with me in going through all of my clutter, papers, neglected/forgotten items, etc., in each area of my apartment. She did all of this with no judgement or heavy-handedness - she was upbeat and a pleasure to work with, the entire time. Once the unwanted items were collected, Isolde arranged to take the relevant items to a charity for donation, others to a company for confidential shredding (she took care of all of the details, which made it very easy for me).
For other items, Isolde help me move them to my storage locker (which she helped me de-clutter, as well!), and she helped me figure out which items I'd give to friends or family, and put me in touch with a site on which I could sell some other items. Throughout the process, Isolde shared helpful tips, tricks and resources with me.
In summary, Isolde helped me de-clutter, organize, beautify and personalize my apartment, and helped me make the space much more efficient, so that I could get the most use and enjoyment out of it as possible. During the process, Isolde kept us on-track, on-schedule and on-budget. In addition, Isolde managed to make the process enjoyable - she is an interesting, funny, decent and professional person, with great ideas and a great eye for organization, efficiency and design.
