Granite Counter Tops

Before coming out to measure we were asked 4 times if cabinets were installed. Joe showed up took measurements and left never saying a word. The next day we get a phone call saying we have to come back to remeasure because your appliances were not in place and therefore we are charging you $100 for my time. I was a bit taken back after having our kitchen company come in a few times to measure never suggesting we pay them more money! Why were we not asked about our appliances being in place since we were asked about cabinets four times prior to you coming out I asked. To which he replied READ YOUR CONTRACT! In the end he did come back as he said he was in the area anyway and we did not get charged the$100.00. After the granite was installed we received a phone call that we thought at first was to ask how everything went. To our shock they called to yell at us and ask why we told the installers to cut an inch and a 1/4 of the granite which cost them an extra two hours on the job! Of course we had no clue what they were talking about and in fact I asked the installer is it usual to have to cut the granite as I assumed it would be ready to install, he looked at me and said no it is not usual but my boss called me this morning and said he left the granite slightly larger so I could cut and modify to fit properly given the back wall wasn't even. I would also like to say if an 1 1/4" had to be removed then doesn't that suggest it wasn't the right size in the first place? The next incident was when we went to install faucet and the hole was cut to close to the sink making it impossible to attach the faucet at the base, nothing to do with window sill. They didn't take into account we had an apron sink! When we called them back they said it was not their issue and they have no interest in coming out, get the plumber to fix it! Luckily our wonderful Kitchen Company came to our rescue and was able to cut a small hole at the back underneath side of the sink to accommodate the faucet. We would never recommend this company based on the level of customer service we received from both Joe and Frank, the installers were however great. Just to recap...as an educated consumer... at NO TIME did I ever ask installers to cut Granite! and at NO TIME did I ever change measurements. The installers just did their job properly and It's not our fault (the customer) that they were longer on the job then you thought they should be and you should NEVER call yelling at your client EVER making false accusations, especially when you were not on site. They have taken what should be an exciting happy venture and twisted it to make it a very upsetting, stressful moment for us and I don't appreciate the rude and foul comments made about myself to my husband, this is a very upsetting matter for us both indeed..and over what because your installers where longer then necessary! Ridiculous! Based on their reply to a negative review you can clearly see what we are talking about.... I don't need to say anymore.....

Company Response

Its amazing how this client has the opportunity to slander a company by leaving out most of the truth of what actually happened.

Here's the truth: The client made adjustments to the granite pieces during the installation (if your an educated consumer, you would understand that the granite pieces are custom made to fit your kitchen and they cannot be altered after a measurement takes place). We spent 2 hours measuring this job, which the client also signs off on our measurements. During the install, she changed her mind on sizes she approved during our measure, her husband told me this in a conversation I had with him the next day.

The bottom line is, if you hire a company to perform a service in your house, read their contract, its the clients responsibility to do so. Just for the record, we came out to your house to remeasure when your appliances finally arrived, but did not charge you as it is our right to as stated in our contract that you signed.

As for the faucet hole, it is drilled in the correct location as per the client. It cannot be altered because of the wood window sill that interferes with your goose neck faucet.

After so many years in this business, it still amazes me that we deal with the ignorance of some clients. This client obviously decided to leave out the truth in this review which obviously degrades our company. I would challenge this client to verify her story up against the thousands of projects we have completed for very satisfied clients.

Lets all decide to leave this one in the past, it should be obvious to everyone that the client has taken the defensive and is clearly leaving out the truth. Not to mention that this situation is under investigation by Peel Police based on the RACIST comments the clients husband made directly to me. Pretty indecent of him if you ask me. Now that I know the type of people we are dealing with, I would have never taken on this project and would never associate myself or my company with this type of client.
Yet again the client is lying. It's obvious to say as any outsider looking in, that this client has fabricated a story and possibly living a double life or has 2 different husbands. At no time, did we have any negative comments about the client, but I do know that the clients husband is a racist, based on the verbal comments he made to me. As I stated earlier, Peel Police are looking into this matter. I would rather not comment any more at this time.
