Courteous, helpful, and expert trade - Hire Nu-Phase Electric!

I had a blown circuit breaker for a residential HVAC unit. With the heat of summer, I really wanted to get it dealt with quickly. I reached out three or four of the electricians with top HomeStars ratings - including several of the "Best of" companies. Neil at Nu-Phase was the only one who responded, and he booked me in promptly. He even gave the HVAC technician a call in advance so that he would have a better understanding of the problem.

Neil showed up on time and got the fix done in no time. OK, so maybe most competent electricians could repair a blown circuit breaker but here were some touches that I thought put Neil into a different category:

(a) Before starting the job he insisted on checking out the HVAC unit and confirming the factory amp and wattage specs. Why? Because often whatever was done at the time of install is wrong and Neil wanted to ensure that whatever work he did would stick and not lead to the same problems.

(b) Throughout the job Neil explained what he was doing, taking the time to ensure that I understood. He said that he believed his solution would deal with the problem, but that if didn't he would be prepared to return and do whatever needs done. And of course, Neil's solution did deal with the problem.

(c) While he was on-site, I also asked Neil to replace a light switch with a timer switch. He did that job very quickly, and again maybe most electricians could have as well. But when Neil was replacing the switch after wiring it up, he used a spirit level to ensure that the switch was going in vertically. He wanted to ensure that the switch and the panel would look right in relation to the door frame. And even the plate screws he rotated until the screwdriver notches in the screw heads were all vertical. Was any of this strictly necessary? No, but it sure showed an attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship that took me by surprise.

(d) Lastly, I asked Neil about a bunch of exterior halogen lights and asked him what the cost would be to switch the units over to LED for power savings. Rather than answer the question, Neil informed me that within the last few months these lights had come out in an LED format and that the units did not need to be replaced. He also encouraged me to go onto the BC Hydro website and ensure that I took advantage of the power savings rebates being offered. Neil emphasized that he believes his obligation to his customers is to answer their questions honestly and to save their money where he can. He sure demonstrated that on this question.

In short, I went with Neil simply on the strength of the HomeStars reviews. Boy did that work out. I would not hesitate to use Neil again for any electrical needs, and have no hesitation in recommending him for your needs. A nice guy who takes pride in his craft and does a first-class job.

Thank you for the review. Working in existing homes requires a lot of experience. Hiring approved contractorsfor electrical gas and plumbing is required for liability insurance . It helps keep insurance rates lower and accidents to a minimum. Enjoy your new ceiling fan and potlights. Thx Neil

Honest, reliable, efficient

Neil recently installed a ceiling fan and light in our bedroom. The job turned out to be more complicated than expected, but Neil spent many hours ensuring it was done to perfection -- with no extra charges added. We were grateful to come home to a job well done, all of the packaging carefully put away, and the manuals and instructions left out for easy reference. Neil is a true professional. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to someone else. Thanks, Neil!

I appreciate my customers taking the time to write a great review . That cieling fan definitely had a lot of pieces to assemble, but it was no problem . I secured the existing cieling box as it was loose . Due to vibration a box can break if it isn't secure Hope you guys a cool summer

Excellent service

A large limb came off our elm tree and pulled the electrical wiring from the house. We called Neil on an emergency basis and he came right over to assess the situation. He tried to find the necessary parts but it was late in the day and the tree service still hadn't cleared away the debris so he agreed to come back the next morning and do the repairs. Although he had other clients booked, he made time to come and restore our power and did an excellent job! He was professional, knowledgeable and personable. He went the extra mile to help us out and I would highly recommend this company.

THank you for the great review. Yes I recieved this call at 7 pm and tried to help them right away as they had no power. Unfortunately the fallen tree was in way still and wholesalers had closed . Nevertheless less as soon as the city cleared the fallen tree I was there and fixed the whole service as well as corresponding with Bc hydro to get them to come hook up power . Hopefully those trees were appropriately take care of . Take care
