I was given a quote and that was the final price (no add-ons, no hidden costs and no issues). Steve explained every step of the way in detail, came through as expected regarding time line and with the finish product. I’m always worried about who enters my home, but Steve @ Black Forest Woodworking is very reliable, accurate and keeped the work area very clean. I was very pleased with his work and will use him again in the near future. I have recommended him to friends and family and now I will recommend him to HOMESTARS!

Steve built some custom oak book shelves and some built in cabinets for me in Feb. 2010. I liked him and his work so much he's now designing new cupboards for my kitchen. He has a great eye for design and shares his ideas if you ask, and I do. I appreciate his ideas and suggestions. He has a key to my house and I trust him to come and go as needed. He's easy to work with and delivers a high quality product for the promised price and on time. Finding the right person is half the battle with renovations and home projects. It is a pleasure to work with him and I highly recommend him and his work.

Impressed would be an understatement when describing the craftsmanship of Black Forest Woodworking. Steve (the owner) takes the time to help design a piece of furniture that will custom fit in your home. He is extremely meticulous when designing and installing. I was amazed at how many times he would measure a piece to ensure that it fit so exact that you would have thought the built-ins were already a feature of the house. Not only is he very exact in his measurements and installation, but he is also conscientious in how he leaves your home....CLEAN. We absolutely adore our mantel and side built ins. The custom made filing cabinet meets out office needs. If your looking for an honest family run business that prides themselves in their work, then Black Forest Woodworking is the company for you.

Steve did an ecxellent job on our fireplace mantel and built in cabinets on either side. His workmanship is impecable and he is truly a master craftsman. He helped us go thru various designs and was patient with us until we were absoluely sure about what we wanted. We have since recommened him to our friends who have complimented us on the work that he has done. Steve takes pride in his work and it truly shows!

My husband had been diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis was not good....12 months at most.
He had always wanted a fireplace with a flat screen above so I searched and searched for the ideal unit and no where could I find one.
I was very fortunate to have Steven's name given to me by a fireplace shop and was on the phone to him that day in late October.
I told him of the situation and had thoughts it would be a wonderful last Christmas present that he could enjoy throughout the winter while having his cancer treatments.
Steven was fantastic and I sometimes wondered if he put other projects on hold to complete the project in time for Christmas.
He would come to the house in the mornings to measure and plan when my husband was well enough to go to work...it was comical as I would call him and say "he's gone" come over!!......and he would leave his shop and come....it was to be a surprise.
The finished project is absolutly beautiful and tenderly made.
It is a corner unit in maple to match the wood trim in the room, the fireplace was enclosed in black granite.
On either side of the fireplace are hidden storage doors for DVD's....push in the side and a door pops open.
Directly below the mantle is a drop down glass door and in that space is ample room for all the components.
Attached to the mantle is a soaring cabinet that the TV is attached to and extends almost to the ceiling with a shelf on the top.
His work is excellent, he was always pleasant,professional, helpful and reasonably priced.
I would highly recommend Steven for any project.

We were looking for someone to renovate our outdated brick fireplace in our family room for 3 years. Not only were we given run arounds by people, we were quoted prices that were more than double and some triple. A friend recommended Steve from Black Forest and immediately we felt confident that we could trust him to do the job. Very nice and down to earth and professional, he didn't talk down to us and brought lots of pictures. He gave recommendations based on his experience which we were very happy with. We will be adding more custom cabinetry to our home in the future and we can't imagine hiring anyone else to do the job. We've gotten so many compliments on the design and workmanship and we have no hesitation at all in recommending Steve to our family and friends. Don't bother going to anyone else…you will be very happy with the service.

I shopped around for a while until I finally chose to go with Black Forest Woodwork. The service was exceptional, I was given great suggestions and ideas. The mantel was designed with all the details I wanted plus a few more were added that I thought were great. I definitely would use them again for my next project.

We had an old, reclaimed pine mantel in our dining room. We wanted to embelish it to make it look more substantial and have it restained to match the trim in our room. We also wanted to build out a wood surround to our stone fireplace in our basement. From design, to quote, to the finished product, Steven was very professional. It is rare in this industry to meet contractors who are able to provide good service, a fair price and an exceptional product. We have recommended Steven to friends and we will definately use him again for projects in the future.

Steve's work was flawless and he has a wonderful eye for detail. We initially hired him to build a fireplace mantle, but we liked his work so much that we called him back to build a bar and wall unit. When it was completed, it is exactly what we envisioned. Steve was very neat and cleaned up well after the jobs were complete.
