Steven built and installed shelving in our basement for TV components, books, and bar bottles. Dimensions approx 38" high by about 13 feet long along the end wall of our rec room. Let me say the quality is outstanding and the workmanship stellar. I am very picky but was thoroughly impressed by the fine detail, right down to the caulking. The shelf top was made from MDF wood, I think, but looks and feels like caesarstone! Would not hesitate to hire again to do work for the most prominent room in our house.

We've had a few hits and misses using HomeStars, but Steven and his team knocked it out of the park. Their attention to detail is top notch. They were able to construct the built-ins around our existing mantle with an end result which looks like it is a single unit. On top of that, they were completed weeks in advance of the timeframe discussed at our initial consultation. In April, Steven and his crew constructed a wall of open shelving in my sitting room. The unit was put up in just one day as it had been pre-built in his workshop from careful measurements he had taken earlier. Steven was courteous, friendly and a skillful craftsman. When I decided to move my sound system on to the unit, he obligingly returned a few days later to drill the necessary holes. Now, 5 months on, I continue to love the unit. Not only is it an attractive sturdy piece of furniture, but it holds an incredible array of items: all my books, plants, a mini-bar, numerous storage baskets, speakers, CDs......the list goes on. All in all a terrific organizer. Thank you, Steven!

It was a pleasure to deal with Steven. He designed and built a very large wall unit for us. He took very detailed measurements on his first visit, sent a design a day or so later and then arrived 6 weeks later with his crew to do the installation over 2 days. The wall unit is stunning and the quality of the workmanship is very high. His crew was professional and very clean. We have asked him to quote on a second unit for the basement. Steven sets a high standard for his work and is a pleasure to deal with.

Steven built and installed our fireplace surround/mantle today. Both my husband and I are thrilled with the finished product. It has completely transformed our existing fireplace.

After many unsuccessful attempts at trying to simply get a quote from other cabinet / millwork providers, I gave up utilizing the traditional approach and found HomeStars. I found Steven's company BlackForest with excellent reviews and gave him a call. Steven not only answered the call, but promptly came out to see the project and give me a price. I showed him some pictures I found on-line about what I wanted and he tweaked those to conform to my space. He was upfront with me and told me that the work would take "X" amount of weeks as they were busy and promised it would all be done by end June - July. I awarded him the work, and cross my fingers. Steven kept me up to date of the work in progress during the build phase which I found nice as I knew exactly what was going on and stuck to the dates as promised. His team completed the work just yesterday, and it came out amazing.

Recently engaged Steven to build and install custom shelving/cabinetry in our living room, involving a fireplace mantle, various door styles and accommodations for a flatscreen TV. The installation and the end product were perfect.

We have recently hired Steven to built a window bench (in our kitchen) as well as a fireplace mantel (with build in bookcases) in our rec-room (basement).
