Prepare to be gouged

From a purchasers/buyers perspective, it's an overall good experience, lots of really neat stuff to chose from, and always changing. However, try doing business with them as a seller, this is where you see the truce face of this business, and it's not a pretty one. Fees charged are outrageous, they tell you what your possessions are worth and what they will sell it for, and when they will reduce the price. Their customer service is very poor. You are responsible for all costs (shipping), and when your item sells, you cannot access your funds until the 15th of the FOLLOWING month, and they WILL NOT send you the money, it MUST be picked up......unbelievable!! In my case goods were damaged by their driver in transit for which they would not hold themselves accountable. My partner and I were in a jam moving residences which is why we used them at all. Our bedroom suit was worth over $2500 and ended up with $300 in our pockets. After the $180 delivery charge, our net was $120! MD and some lucky buyer ended up with a great deal......we on the other hand got stiffed! I would never ever use these people again, I would definitely use Kijiji first, failing that, I would just give it away before going with MD.

Approximate cost of services:
$180.00

Company Response

Hi Tim, We were sorry to hear that your experience as a consignor was not to your satisfaction. We’ve been in business 8 years and are proud to offer our services to over 5000 consignors between our three store locations. When determining the selling price of items, The Millionaire’s Daughter, will consider such factors as brand, age, condition, and market demand. As a general guideline, consignment pricing is approx. 1/3 of original pricing, although it could be higher or lower based on condition, style, age, marketability etc. We are not an antique shop and do not make any claims to knowing the market value of your piece. We price our items based on what we've sold in the past and what we think our buyers will pay. We very much hope to resolve your experience. While The Millionaire's Daughter is not responsible for damages of any kind due to deliveries, we will be speaking with the delivery team directly. Please find our contact information below if you wish to discuss any further details. maureen@themillionairesdaughter.com
