Heritage restoration of deteriorated brick and stone on 100-year-old house

Our recently purchased 100-year-old home had severe deterioration of bricks (freeze-thaw) and botched renos (mudroom extension and window replacements, where bricks had slumped or cracked). We were looking for a company that could do heritage restoration (not just bricklayers) using sympathetic materials and traditional techniques. Barkley Hunt's company did a fantastic job. They procured salavaged bricks and new stone that matched, and used lime-based mortar which is essential in any Toronto home over 60 years old. The reconstructed walls blend in perfectly. In the tricky spots Barkley used amazing problemsolving to overcome some challenges associated with poor work of the past. Barkley's daily communication meant I got the job I wanted, and extra work was taken on only with full consultation including on price. My only discontent was that different team members work on the house did not perfect match mortar color in some limited places (but it is hardly noticeable). All in all, our house has been RESTORED and it looks great.

Approximate cost of services:
$7,000.00
