Overall Experience with Crescent Design - VERY BAD / WORST EVER experience

About Service Magic: Customer support is good. Since we have entered into dispute with Crescent, resolution service professional did try her best to help us, but at the end, she has to give up. She said, Service Magic is no more advertising Crescent on their web site. Service Magic is not giving consumers to this Crescent Design [run by two partners (Turkish looking) ].

We got referred to this contractor by Service Magic. We honored contract to this company because bid by this contractor was the lowest. Initial work done by this contractor impressed us [ strategy followed by this contractor company ]. Contractor followed same strategy everywhere, they start work at more than one site during the same timer period as us, and they give reference to each other, so we will always end up getting good reference. Contract was designed in such a way that we have ended up paying 95% of the payment, we did not even realize that hardily 55% of work was finished by that time, but this was also a part of the strategy that this contractor followed to collect all money upfront. After they collected 95%, they have started giving tough time, started demanding for extras, since that was the beginning, somehow we have managed to agree to pay for 2 extras [we have paid 100% for both extras in advance]. After that they started working, send one guy just to do something to make us realize that they have resuming work. Within next couple of days, owner of the company has sent us an email with an attachment of illegitimate demands of extra money in an amount of approximately $25K [$25,000]. Since we had a feeling that this contractor might have underbid [not out fault], we were ready to honor reward of $17,002 [$17K], but the owner keep insisting about that $25K demand, eventually we have decided to go for hard actions against this contractor, we will Not recommend this contractor anybody. Later on we found out that 2 more customers were treated the same way by this company in the past and both were already in the process of filing a lawsuit against this contractor. We also found that this company keeps changing their office address from one town to other town [close to Perterson, NJ].
Well, think twice before you ready to loose, in terms of life and money, I would request everybody who read this review to pass this information to anybody who you feel not ready to loose life and money.
***Few hints to ensure you do not get trapped in an agreement is: - Call BBB to see how contractor company is doing /no open complaints - Never agree with contract first time, get it reviewed by an attorney, ask your attorney to remove payment break which says "20% at the start of blah blah blah…" - It should be "10% at the finish of blah blah.." Make sure to have contract dissolve clause in an agreement. Make sure to get both first name, last name and complete address of all parties involved in the contract [from contracting company, get real name, not fake/pat]. Make sure to mention what materials contractor will be using - avoid terms such as basic, mid level, higher level - be specific about the quality and price of materials to be included in the contract. If you get trapped like us, use internet to search about this company, now a days, everybody posts their complaints to internet, you need to spend good amount of time to research.
