The old owners of our house did very little to upkeep the property. One of the big problems were the eavestrough and downpipes. While they looked ok there was water dripping from a few spots, there were some nails popping out and the brick was wet around the chimney. I spoke to two other eavestrough repair companies and they said that the eavestrough could be repaired. I wanted another estimate and was referred to Tip Top Trough by a co-worker and met Pierce at the house that weekend. He also said the eavestrough could be repaired but asked me why we would want to. He pointed out that the eavestrough was at least 20 years old and will need replacing in the next 2-3 years anyway. He said that to spend one dollar on repairing the eavestrough would be throwing money away. By installing new eavestrough we would be able to get the “biggest bang for our buck”. After discussing with my husband we agreed that replacement was the way to go. The Tip Top Trough crew was very polite and were careful around my landscaping. The eavestrough looks amazing and works great. Thanks for everything!

I am a manager for a large property management firm located in Toronto. One of the properties I am responsible for is a 16 unit townhouse complex at Yonge and Lawrence. Ever since my company took over that property we had a major problem with water pouring from the slightly angled flat roof on to our tenants back porch. It was soaked every time it rained in the spring, summer and fall and would be an icicle nightmare in the winter. I must have had a dozen different aluminum and roofing companies try and quote on the problem before I found Tip Top Trough. After a brief inspection, they were able to explain why we were experiencing these problems and had a very simple yet logical solution. After submitting a detailed proposal, we hired them and within 2 weeks they were on site. They were able to finish the repairs in one day and ever since we have had no problems. We now use them to clean and inspect all of our residential properties annually. I highly recommend this company to homeowners and other property managers looking for a professional and knowledgeable company to service their aluminum needs.

We own a house with green eavestrough. It would not have been my first choice but the people who sold us the house seemed to like it. One afternoon playing soccer with my son in the backyard, he crushed a downpipe by accident. Since it seems we live in the rain capital of the world, I knew I needed to fix it sooner than later. The first company I called never called me back, the second company made an appointment but never showed up. The third company called me back and even showed up when they said they would but when I asked them to replace the broken downpipe with the same color they said that they couldn’t because they don’t make that color anymore. He said I could have one of four colors…that’s it. For some reason I didn’t fully believe them and tried my luck one more time. I phoned Pierce at Tip Top Trough and asked him to come provide me a quote. He came on the weekend and to my surprise said that not only do they still make that color, he showed the other 23 colors I could pick from (Pierce offers 3 different shades of white!). Needless to say we hired them and when we are ready to replace the nasty green eavestrough with something else I know who I am going to call.

After a huge wind storm several pieces of our soffit had blown away, leaving a big gap under our roof. I was extremely worried about losing more soffit and also about animal infestation. Tip Top Trough was able to match the style and color of the soffit exactly. They repaired and replaced the missing soffit quickly. Their crew was polite and their prices were fair. I will be using them for all our aluminum needs. Cheers!

I was having trouble finding a company to seal a couple of drips I was having from the corners of my eavestrough. I already learned my lesson about using window cleaning companies to do eavestrough work. I was referred to Tip Top Trough by a friend of mine who had used them a few years back. We agreed on a fair price and they started a week later, right on time. I was surprised to find out later that they also do installations of new eavestrough and the like. It is nice to see a company that still takes time to service their clients, no matter how small. Thanks Pierce.

The infamous tornado of 2009 really punched me in the guts. It completely wrecked the outside of my home. I’m actually lucky because friends of mine got it much worse. I had eavestrough hanging off of my house, in front of the garage door and front door, everywhere. I called Tip Top Trough and they came the next morning. They did what they could to make it so we could get in and out of the house without ripping off what eavestrough I had left. They cut and disposed of the hanging eavestrough and re-secured the eaves and fallen downpipes. What they did actually held us over until we settled with the insurance company and had them back to put new eavestrough up. A really great company, thanks guys!

I had a new roof installed last spring and at first it appeared they had done a good job, until the first time it rained. Water was pouring from behind the eavestrough all along the roof of my garage. I called the roofing company but they said that it was an eavestrough problem, not a roofing problem. I had seen signs for Tip Top Trough around my neighborhood and gave them a call. After scheduling an inspection with Pierce, he came out and gave me a quote for drip edge installation. Not only did he solve the problem all around the garage, (saving our landscaping) but he took pictures of the shingle roof edge and explained to me that the roofers had started their shingles too short and that was causing the water behind the eaves. Of course the roofing company won’t return my calls.... But I was very impressed with the quality of service and patience I received from Tip Top Trough.

That crazy hail storm last year dented all of the fascia and eavestrough all around my house. After a lengthy “discussion” with my insurance company we got a settlement for a new roof, eavestrough and fascia. Our roofer recommended Tip Top Trough to quote on the work. They were able to provide us an estimate fairly quickly and were not the cheapest price but we decided to try them because of the high recommendation. We are happy we did. The two companies worked seamlessly together and as soon as the roofers were complete, the next day we had new fascia and eavestrough on the house. It was a great experience and we give their numbers to our friends and family all the time.

We had a long overdue cleaning on our eavestrough as well as a couple of minor repairs to make the trough system work better for our home. Tip Top Trough was amazing, they had friendly workers, great customer service, competitive pricing, fully licensed and insured ( many people dont realize that your contractors need to be licensed with the city of toronto to do work on your property) and above all they do a quality job! All homeowners should be so lucky to deal with contractors like this all the time!

leafguard installation turned into a cleaning

I was considering having leafguard put in my eavestrough, I had actually verbally agreed with another company to a quote they had provided. Tip Top Trough was working on a house across the street and I figured I would take 5 minutes and see if I could get a better price. After a brief inspection of my home, their guy said he would not recommend installing leaf guard at all. He pointed out a large pine tree on my neighbor’s property that was definitely depositing needles onto my roof and eaves. The type of leafguard the other company had quoted to install was too porous and would eventually clog my downpipes. Now I use Tip Top Trough to clean my house twice a year.
