We shopped for a contractor to redo our driveway. We had prices with a difference of over $3000 from the lowest to the highest. When we contacted West York Paving we got a call back the same day to schedule a visit for the next day to provide a quote. One called us back over 7 days later asking us to measure our driveway. He would give us a price over the phone. Another never even returned our call. We had 3 in total actually come to the house out of the 6 we reached out to.

Joe arrived right on time, discussed all our options regarding single layer, double layer, grade of asphalt etc. explaining in detail the pros and cons of each. He was patient in making sure we understood the differences. They weren't the lowest price but they weren't the highest either. We believe they were the best value though.

They were at our home three times. Remove the old driveway, reset the concrete curb along one side and finally pave the driveway. Each time they arrived right on schedule. The crews were friendly, professional and efficient doing exactly what they said they would do and doing it very well.

We believe we may have actually gotten more asphalt thickness than we contracted for. We asked about the slope of the driveway for water runoff while they were doing the paving. For peace of mind they hosed down the asphalt in front of the garage to demonstrate the water running down the driveway toward the road.

There were a couple of very small spots near the bottom of the steps where the roller couldn't go. After tamping the aggregate still seemed a bit course there compared to the rest of the driveway. They got a small amount of asphalt from the truck without aggregate put it in place by hand, heated and tamped it. Now it is perfectly smooth just like the rest.

As a part of some landscaping we are doing, we made some driveway changes. Raymo and his West York team promptly and efficiently removed the old asphalt. We waited a couple of weeks, and the new asphalt was poured. The work was done quickly, and well, and at a reasonable cost. Additionally, we found the trucks belonging to the company/crew were always clean, bright, shiny red! Raymo is personable, friendly; and we found the crew to be focused and hard working.

They installed an asphalt driveway with an incorrect grade resulting in water flowing into my garage vs away. They promised numerous times last years to return and fix this but nothing was done. This year, I spoke to the owner, Joe, who refused to fix the problem unless I paid them the holdback money. Unprofessional and dishonourable.

After I added this review to homestars, West York Paving contacted homestars and told them that I was never their customer. Fortunately, I had written proof of my payments to them and their signed agreement to return and correct their faulty job. Again, dishonourable and dishonest.

I needed to have my driveway redone as it was quite old and cracking in various areas; since I was doing the driveway I decided to completely redo the front walkway upto the front door of the house and also install a backyard patio.

My wife and I decided to obtain a number of quotes to get a ballpark figure, while we looked at stone interlock solutions and concrete options. We ended up going with stone due to the additional curb appeal and the very nice finished look.

Joe was one of the companies we contact to provide a quote. From all of the ones I had received, his was the most reasonable cost-wise and he was one of the few companies that did not increase their quote then offer me a ‘discount’ if I posted a positive homestars review for his company, like others did. Based on his professional demeanour, apparent knowledge of the work and ability to customize the work to my needs (ie. we had a metal bracket in the backyard holding up our A/C and they had to get underneath as I didn’t want to remove, they offered to remove our backyard door to fit through and also cut it since the height was going to decrease when installing stone from grass previously).

The men who were installing the stone were very particular when cutting the stone to fit and did clean work. They knew what they were doing answered all our questions regarding the installation process and post-maintenance with knowledge. We appreciated their professionalism in completing the job.

Joe provided references when requested and the visits to the work done in the last 1 & 2 years seemed to hold up pretty well. We are posting this a couple weeks post-completion so we cannot say much about how the stone holds up over time; however, it looks beautiful right now.

I did have a slight concern that the company is well known for residential and commercial paving, and that I was getting them to do stone work. But after speaking with the guy Joe uses for stone (Remo) he was great and felt good with the choice we were going to go with.

I would definitely recommend West York Paving, Joe and Remo, and the work they do.

The only negative was that the session had to be rescheduled a couple times, but each case was due to terrible weather (remember the spat of snow that Toronto received in early April 2018?) and couple other times when there was heavy rains. Apart from that, which was out of their control, a pretty satisfied customer!

Joe was a pleasure to deal with, he was able to answer all my questions. The crew was very professional and efficient. Definitely recommend there services.

Also we selected this company because the estimator spend sufficient time discussing the job with us and explaining what would be done and the job order write-up had excellent detail.

Fantastic job, amazingly new vehicles(my children were in awe). After some time for the driveway to settle after it was ripped, they came before fall and layed the new asphalt. Still looks new, even after a winter that had all kinds of temperature shifts.

Our drive needed to be done a few years ago so i got 3 quotes and West York wasn't the lowest and I started the project with someone else. That was the big mistake. The Competitor damaged my house and drove over an expensive Japanese maple tree just pulling out the old driveway. I couldn't continue with them so this past Dec when i was ready to put the new driveway in I called Remo back to see if he could help me out. His team not only helped me they improved the shoddy work of their competitor. My enduring thanks to Remo and his team. They took the time to do the important sections by hand and graded the driveway for drainage perfectly.
I couldn't recommend a better paving company in the GTA than York West.

Thanks again to west York paving. We have now used them on six of our properties. I really don't know why you would call anyone else. It is so nice to see such a professional company such as them. A huge thank you to Joe, Frank , Jack and the entire crew! Top notch job as usual we only refer west York to friends and family. Again we have people stopping to ask us who did the driveway for us. The edging is absolutely amazing. Thanks again guys for an amazing job start to finish. See you soon on the next house!
