Edmonton New home build - poor customer service. Watch out for the warranty department!

Customer service is poor with a lot of miscommunication and disconnect. The only people that were nice to talk to were the people from the Design centre and the trades people that come to your place to do repairs. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like they have a lot of power for craftsmanship quality. Paid on commission with minimal efforts in quality. I had multiple concerns, including my neighbours upset with how Reidbuilt treats them over the phone even though they don't even own a Reidbuilt home.

Once you move in, you have no direct contact with them the people in the design centre. I paid $500 for a garbage pull-out...it looks like something you can build yourself from Canadian Tire. Don't upgrade your kitchen with them...do it after the fact with the Gem cabinets. I've been told that Gem will give you one of the top of the line garbage pull-outs for the same price.

They have a program called Launchpad, which is used to update buyers of the home building progress. Two months before possession it states that the interior of the home is complete. I get a date for the walkthrough one week before possession and the final touches are not complete. From the day of the walkthrough to possession was one of the worst customer service experience I've had. They want your money and they want you to move in as fast as possible.

They build decent starter homes if you want just the basics. Beware of the site supervisor and warranty. Some are brand new and suck. Some have been around for decades that know their stuff, but again...their customer service skills can be improved.

Consider building a basic starter home with them, make sure the layout and plot size fits what you want. Cost is relatively cheap and don't expect high quality materials with the upgrades. Just don't do upgrades with them. Period. They don't know much about bulkheads or wood laminate floorings on stairwells or moving windows and walls. They are by no means flexible.

I would not recommend building an estate home or something modern with them. When I found out that they were building in Jensens Lakes...I felt sorry the current buyers and for the future buyers of Reidbuilt.

Modern and customizable layouts, customer service, and quality are their weakness. There are better builders out there.

Approximate cost of services:
$520,000.00
