As for the metal (plumber's) strap, it has been proven over the years that using these is the best way to support your sink and better ensure that it will not fall from the countertop within a short amount of time. We install these to provide an extra layer of protection and a higher level of customer service. We do our very best to install these straps so that they are not noticeable on a day to day basis.
