Production Builder ...you get what you get

Quality control of sub contractors is poor and to get problem solved it takes time and energy.
I would say do not but from Excel
Try to protect you self and do not give them full amount until they are done

DO NOT BUILD WITH EXCEL!! CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH!!

From the start things seemed off. Should have stuck to my guns and walked away. Since taking possession have started to notice the issues of poor workmanship eg translucent paint! You can see straight through to the drywall! Poor finishing of drywall and poor painting of all my over priced "upgrade" trims. Paint on floors and cabinets not to mention the damaged cabinets. Exterior issues the shingles are damaged there is paint on the siding etc etc. Currently working with the warranty team seems promising but until all issues are resolved I wouldn't rate any higher.

Update. Still way to many issue's for a new house! They always blame sub contractors. Had an independent home inspection done and guess what? DID NOT PASS with flying colours!!!! Poor materials, poor workmanship, poor communication. Next step ANHWP!!!! After that lawyer... AVOID EXCEL HOMES!!! Sent a 2 and a half page email to customer care still waiting!!!!

Highly not recommendable, don't even trust 1% what sales and service team says,

I don't know where to start, I moved in on Aug 31st, on the very first day we found that light was not working in the Refridgerator, I called to service team on next day, they arranged someone to fix it after 2 weeks, means while I found so many scratches and dent on the side, I asked the service team, they said They will come and take a look, its been over 3 months now, everyone is just simply dropping the ball, no one is fixing that issue, I am wondering how come there is a dent on side, I asked who is accountable for that, no one is taking responsibilities because no one noticed because its on side not visible from the front side, I have issue with door too, my biggest question is why there are many issues on the brand new iteam, it seems like its a damage piece, I asked them to replace it but they really don't care, me and my friend both paid similar price for the refrigerator upgrade, he was given water filter option and I did not get that, I am asking simple question to them they are not even answering that,

so may false promises since starting, also sales manager behaves that he is company's boss, he made me realize that we made biggest mistake because we purchased a house from them, the whole new journey was worst, can't even think of anything worst then excel homes service,

Highly not recomendable, no more excel homes for future purchase, simply waste of money and time, If you want nighmares and lots of troubles then please deal with excel homes, this is just after 3 months, I am not sure how this is going to be under warranty, if I have to claim,

don't waste your harder money with this company.

Not what I expected or deserved

I have tried calling and emailing Excel Homes in order to solve the many issues that keep appearing with my new Excel Home. The warranty department will not forward my emails to the management team nor ask the management team to return my calls. This is disappointing at best and hints that Excel does not want to do the right thing for their customers and their reputation. If anyone from Excel Homes reads this please have your managers call me. You know the phone number it is in the emails and the messages on your voicemail inbox. Just do the right thing Excel Homes.

Excel homes relies on homeowners just giving up after so much fighting and continuous bad service from the builder. Don't give up. Keep after Excel homes if you bought one of their places. They are responsible for the construction and the defects are theirs to fix. Even if they ignore their customers or deny everything.

0 customer service

I don’t even know where to start. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They don’t answer phone calls, return calls from voicemails and most times won’t even respond to emails if they do it is weeks or months after you send an email. Our warranty guy has either blocked my number or has his phone off 100% of the time and his voicemail box is full so you can’t even leave a message. We have lived in our house for 19 months now. The poor quality of materials are already degrading in this time. They chose to use flat paint on our interior walls even though it says eggshell in our contract. If you so much as brush your leg again ya the wall it leaves a mark not to mention the majority of the walls are 1 coat of very watered down paint. Most walls are see through and the paint is actually falling off the walls in some places. Of course excel won’t do anything to rectify those problems. On the outside trim the paint is cracking and also on very thin. We had multiple issues to be fixed after our 1 year warranty walk through. This was done in February it is now September and we are still waiting for trades to show up and some of the fixes can’t be done in cold weather so once again we have ran out of time to get things fixed. I have wrote multiple emails
To customer support about this and they won’t even return my email now. The sad part is the house next to us was built this year through a different builder. They did some damage to our front yard landscaping I emailed their customer support and got a response in 20 min and they were at my house the very next day to fix the damage they didn’t receive any money from me and they still responded that fast. That is how customer service should be especially after the largest investment of your lifetime. I will never recommend excel to anyone I know. It has been a stressful and painful experience.

Duplex homes

I am from Calgary NW-If you upgraded your basement ceiling with excel homes check your ceiling height as soon as Possible. I paid 2649+Gst to upgrade my basement ceiling from 8 feet to 9 feet but they make my basement ceiling 8 Feet 8 inch even though i don't know until i brought another basement development company, Actually they try to rip you off. which is unfix-able defects I think they did that intentionally even though they don't want to give your upgrade money back... Please never ever go with this builder also their customer service is worst in the world. They don't follow rules and regulation.

VERY POOR WORKMANSHIP AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I have had the worst experience with Excel Homes and will never recommend this poorly managed company to anyone! Their poor workmanship is unimaginable and a nightmare to live with, they have provided terrible and unacceptable customer service experience as every person I have dealt with in this organization somehow managed to ignore me and my concerns! The worst of it all is when they come to fix a deficiency they will simply damage other components and can not even fix the initial issue! Very frustrating process, given that this is the biggest investment of my life! They have made the process of owning a new home nothing but stressful combined with lots of uncertainty and anxiety.
I will be providing public reviews on multiple websites including the better business bureau later on as I feel if I do now they will start to treat me differently and as the result ignore all of my concerns all together!

Within a few hours of possession I found more than 30 different deficiencies and defects, and that does not include the paint touch up that is required through various spots all over the house! The whole house needs to get repainted because so far I have found at least 50 different spot on the walls that requires touch up or has thin paint! I noticed some of the exterior issues 2 weeks prior to possession date so accordingly I sent an email to the construction manager and the sales manager but they both ignored my email and none of the deficiencies were fixed prior to taking possession! The quality control representative who did my possession date presentation did not even do a walkthrough with me to give me the opportunity to inspect the home and find those deficiencies with him! When I asked him if we should do the walkthrough, he simply said "it is not required!" On the possession date they presented me with a dirty house full of stains, residue and dust! I asked them multiple times to clean it but they just kept making empty promises and it was never cleaned in the end! I called the customer experience manager on June 26 and addressed my concerns to her via voicemail but she just ignored my message as well! I took possession of this home on June 22 and up to today's date(July 30) no deficiencies have been fixed and I still have not been able to move in! They have now attempted to fix some of the exterior defects but not only they did not fix those issues but have damaged other components! I am very frustrated and feel like I have thrown away my hard earned money building with Excel on my first home!

I have been beyond stressed and frustrated throughout this process, at the same time I have been carrying a sense of uncertainty to what will happen with my new built home which has many different defects and deficiencies as Excel has not been accommodating at all! They have very, very, I insist very poor workmanship! No sense of customer service and are keen on making empty promises and excuses for their wrongdoings! Avoid building with Excel homes at all costs!
