Student Works Painting

We had the exterior of our house painted and are very pleased with the result. Andrew Burke and his crew showed up on time and were polite, respectful and quiet the entire time they worked. They showed a very good work ethic, working steadily and as a team all day long. The site was left spotless after the job was complete. No paint spots or mess to be seen. The house looks great! We would highly recommend them to anyone who needs painting and would use them again ourselves in the future.

I used to see their signs in my neighbourhood, and was curious to find out how good they are. They did an excellent job, and the fact that I've asked them to come back for more work is a clear indication of how good they are. They treated my house with respect, and tidied up the place as soon as they finished.

We were very satisfied with the job performed by Andrew Solomon and his team. They arrived early in morning and worked hard to complete the job. They also cleaned up any debris caused by the scraping of the old paint. We would bring them back again.

Bryn and Chris were both courteous, knowledgeable and very conscientious. My husband and I were pleased with the advice provided when we met with Bryn to get an estimate and were then very happy with the paint job itself. The paint was applied professionally and the house was kept clean and tidy during the process. We were very happy with the results and would recommend the crew and the company to others. Thank you!

Last year, I contracted Student Works to stain my gazebo. Initial cost was 2000$. The work was late, and terrible. Not uniform, stain drops on my porch screens and walls. In short, they did not complete their work and they did cause a lot of damages. I went to the small claim court with several photoS and estimates to correct some damages. The Court said i did not have to pay them and that they must refund me around $2400 for damages, deposit, interest, judicial fees. Well believe it or not, they did not pay. I am now in contact with a baillif to seize some of their assets. Seriously, this company (who hides behind their students) should be avoided at all costs. If you ever get a problem with the work, count on them to make your life as hard as possible. Well, believe me, in the spring of 2016 (during their door to door sales) i will put all my effort to publish (through social media and others...) and make people aware of their behaviours and no respect of the law. Unbelievable. This company will not even respect a Court Order, you must avoid Student Works at all costs.

Initially the job was for the soffit and facia of the house as well upper floor window trim. After not hearing from the provider well past the proposed work date, I called him and got a very bad feeling about his lack of knowledge. I then found out we had not had full disclosure, the provider had said that painting metal (soffit and facia) was covered under their warranty...this NOT the case. At this point we requested our refund be returned and call it a day. Since a contract had been signed and a deposit given we were refused the refund and agreed to have only the window trim done. I was assured that his BEST painter would be doing the job. If this is their best everyone be fore warned! The paint is extremely thin and streaky and areas of white that were not to be painted have black smeared on them. We have had nothing but upset dealing with this company so when he came to collect his cheque my husband pointed out some of the deficient areas we could see from the ground, he did tell him we did not want them back. We had College Pro come in to complete the job and they took pictures to show us the windows were worse then we thought. We had them repaint the windows properly. So we have now paid twice to have these windows done. I called the district manager who agreed upon seeing the photos it was a poor job but we should have allowed the painter back to correct the mistakes. Why on earth would I have an obviously incompetent painter return to potentially make a bad job, worse? A home is one's greatest asset, you would not deliberately allow someone whom you know is not good at his job come and continue to devalue it. This company has a banner posted by HomeStars warning of possible fraudulent reviews...given the poor treatment, poor customer service, the poor workmanship and poor transparency of the company; I would very much believe this is what's happening. I have been in the customer service field for over 25yrs. and am shocked at the lack of desire to make a customer feel good or at least in good faith refund for a job badly done. Horrible experience all the way around.

Punctuality-always late ..late first meeting almost 45 mins...
Had to email her several times to set up date to paint. Once date set..late again at least 45 mins. Blamed traffic and construction.
Painted for 2 days and phoned that they were finished. Upon inspection the entire house smudges, holes not covered...just covered with paint. Sloppy! I spoke to her to come back as promised the next day I was informed they were on another job. Agreed to return following week and finished one day, covered up the mistakes and fixed the problem, but mediocre work.
The team leader's name was Reshiga.
So NO I will not be recommending this company. The job was sloppy and very unprofessional and had to be asked again to paint another coat . It seemed they were in a hurry to save money and move on.

We have recently had the pleasure of working with Jamie Tweedie and his team. Jamie, Robert and occasionally Nate and Aaron completed a very large and sometimes challenging job consisting of both interior and exterior work on our home. Our standards and expectations were very high and Jamie ensured that all work was completed to our satisfaction. He and his team were at all times respectful and professional, open to suggestions, did not take offense at any criticism and were very patient as we wavered over paint colour choices. Although initially skeptical, Jamie took on his first "fifth wall" request and became a convert. The team was great fun to have in our home and we appreciated how great they were with our four furry family members. My one concern which has no bearing on Jamie, is the paint used. We are not convinced that the quality is as high as we were led to believe; some rooms took three coats where two should have sufficed with top quality paint. For any future painting jobs, we would purchase the paint ourselves. Jamie presents as a mature, thoughtful and very conscientious young man who evidently has the respect of his staff. He does not hesitate to take up a brush when needed; sure evidence of a good manager. We will not hesitate to use Jamie and Robert for future jobs and would be happy to recommend them to others.
