roof

We had the roof done almost one year ago and after the job was finished we checked what they did. The old exhaust ducts for the range hood and bath fan were left in the attic, the roof top was not sealed properly, only 3 out of 8 vents were changed, the play wood was left uncut for all 8 vents and many others. Peter Walker walked with us through all problems and said that we are fussy customers. We had quotes for 4-5 000 dollars but we went with this company hoping that their reputation is true but now I believe that simply customers do not check their work and they take them for granted. Mr. Walker promised to come back and install a rubber collar for the hydro poll that he will have to purchase from another company. It has been almost one year and we haven't received even an apologise call. I am very disappointed and not recommending to anyone.

Company Response

We are disappointed this homeowner was not fully satisfied with our roof installation. We have reviewed this job carefully and would like to clarify where there seems to be some misunderstanding. Upon review, the original job was properly installed according to the manufacturer's specifications and met all requirements outlined in the contract signed by the homeowner. The old bathroom exhaust fan pipe was not removed from the attic, which is standard practice when it's going to disturb the installation or there is a chance the roof mechanic will fall through the ceiling. Leaving this pipe will not affect the shingle or insulation performance. We would be happy to go back and resolve this issue if possible. After every job is completed a top level supervisor checks the job to make sure everything is done properly. According to our records the roof was sealed properly, all the roof vents were replaced (as per the contract) and the plywood was properly cut. To our knowledge there have been no reports of leaks with this roof. We have never included hydro flanges in our contracts, but take extra care to ensure this area is sealed properly. Most hydro mast flange covers need to be slipped down over top of the pole which involves disconnecting the hydro, something a licensed electrician must do. We are reaching out to this customer to follow up, if they would like to contact us we would be happy to have a look at this project again.
