It was a challenge to find a reputable company to respond in a timely manner who does asphalt paving AND driveway retaining wall services at a reasonable price. Sam showed up to provide a quote on time as scheduled to take measurements and answer all questions. Sam is likeable and he will call you back within a day of receiving any email questions. Upon receiving the quote we confirmed the job and Sam scheduled us in. On the day of the “operation” the team arrived as did Sam. This was like a precise almost military execution! Rocco was leading the team and the company owned vehicle army lined the street. These guys worked from early morning to end of the day removing an old retaining wall, removing old asphalt, grading, and setting the large block retaining wall. The ground course for asphalt was graded properly, set, and left to settle. The team then returned to properly lay the asphalt driveway. The team was polite, easy to work with. I recommend these guys to anyone looking for decent, solid, hardworking, family business and I have since given the name to neighbors who loved the look of our wall and new driveway. I shopped around for a few estimates. Sam gave a fair price, and he took his time to explain, never pressured me for the sale, simple aske me to let him know either way what I decide. He kept in contact with respect to scheduling of the job, giving advance notice of when it would start and timing for completion, which he was back on.
His crew of worker were very polite and professional. You can see from the manner in which they worked that they cared about the work as if it was there own. They constantly cleaned up the area as they went along.
Sam was there at the start of the job to ensure everyone new what to do and that I was happy with what was going on. They got the job done in 1 day. I would definitely get work done again from Sam and his team. And I will definitely recommend him.

Upon reading reviews here on Homestars, we contacted 3 contractors to get quotes to do our driveway with concrete curbs. My husband and I decided to go with Nortown. There prices were fair and comparable. Silvano and his brother Rocco were very professional and completed the project in a timely manner. We were very happy....even a year later we still had no issues with the pavement and the concrete curbs. We decided to contact Silvano again to do my mom’s house the following year. My mom needed a new driveway with a concrete walkway (see photo) and curbs. Again the project was done professionally and in a timely manner. We are very happy with both houses. Amazingly organized and fast. The whole excavation and finishing off my driveway was done in less than the hours! Sam, the person in charge was the one who you want to discuss your project with, hear his honest opinion and trust. He knew the job and his price was quite fair.

They are real pros, team lead Mark is very easy to communicate with, and the whole team is very experienced, seems like a clock, every one get his piece done just at the right time in the right way. They left the site after proper clean up, as if they have never been here, except a new pretty driveway. They also went above and beyond to fix some side issue for me.

I had three paving companies provide quotes and each were in the same range. Two of these were recommended to me as they had performed work in my neighborhood.

I went with Nortown due to dealing with Silvano (very prompt response) and good reviews. The showed up on the day and time arranged. They arrived with a professional crew, lots of specialized equipment and coordinated materials delivery. They performed the job efficiently, of a good standard and left the job site (and street) very tidy

Beginning from the time I was comparison shopping, I felt good about Nortown. Marc was reliable in his communication with me and very friendly. Their price was competitive to the others I spoke to, so I chose Nortown based on Marc's knowledge and character.
He came by and looked at the job, assessed what needed to be done, and confirmed the price.
Once the weather was conducive to tearing up my existing asphalt he called to make the arrangements. After a few weeks they were back to lay the asphalt.
We are very happy with the result and would call on Nortown again if we needed to do anything else.

The Job was completed last year and looked great. After the winter, thin spots with small holes about an inch wide appeared exposing the material below the asphalt The asphalt was only of 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. I was able to push a screwdriver into the earth and crushed material below proving to me that I did not get the compacted 2 inches of asphalt specified in the contract . After sending photos to Silvano, he told me they would repair it and not to worry. After not hearing back for some time I contacted him again and he said they do repairs at the end of the year- about 5-7 months away. I then got a call from Sivano telling me his uncle Sam was going to look at it. Sam came without tools, did no measurements, did not poke or inspect the holes closely , became testy and said there is no problem and the job will last for 10 years. He tried to convince me that there were just imbedded stones that came loose but he never explained why I did not get 2 inches of asphalt as promised in the contract. I am concerned this job will not last. I am an engineer and my neighbour who was present is an architect We know what we were looking at. We also know that Sam was just trying to convince us that there was no problem because it was going to be costly to fix this. It appears my only option is to get another company to fix it and go to court to get Nortown Paving to pay. It is unfortunate because this company has a number of good reviews. I guess if you deal with them you need to know that you are rolling the dice and just hope that you don't get a below par job that requires follow up from them.

I have added a photo of one spot to show the material coming up from under the thin asphalt. There was only one visit (not two) made under duress after pointing out the problem of thin asphalt. You can see the fine grade of the asphalt which contains no stones (see the photo).. As a Profesional Engineer I stand by all my comments above regardless what the company chooses to say . I really have no axe to grind, just surprised by how they are trying to avoid dealing with this in a busines-like manner. Like I said, take your chances.
