Cast waste pipe split going into the basement

This is the 3rd time I have used Mr Rooter in less than 2 years. They come to your house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week even on holidays at no extra charge as I learned that on the Family Day Long Weekend in 2009. There is no hidden costs and quotes are free.

When I bought my house 2 years ago I was told the cast waste pipe that goes up to the second floor and into the cement basement floor should be replaced. Well 2 years later it started leaking into the basement. Mr. Rooter came out at 9am as I requested, gave me a quote and did the job that day. Justin the plumber was very good, friendly and I even had him look over some other things in my house and changed the shut-off valve while he was here. As well as a great job Mr. Rooter guarentee's all there work and and issues that you may have are dealt with immediately. I am very happy with this company and will continue to use them.

$1,900.00

Cast waste pipe split going into the basement

This is the 3rd time I have used Mr Rooter in less than 2 years totaling almost $6000.00. I have to say that their response time and customer service is great. The last Plumber that showed up, Justin was very good, and I was very happy with his work.

Where I have the problem with Mr. Rooter is the cost of this repair. I was told that the job would be a full day job, so I expected it to be high as the last full day job I had done was 3 guys digging an 8 foot hole in my front yard, replaced 8 feet of clay pipe and adding clean-outs and they snaked my pipe for almost an hour. On this job I was quoted the price in the morning but it never started till 12:30pm and ended before 6pm, with 1 plumber. The job consisted of breaking a fairly thin cement slab in my basement digging probably 2 feet down, cutting the pipe and removing it including 5 feet of exposed cast pipe that was running up my basement wall. He tied into the original cast pipe about a foot from the ceiling in the basement. The supplies to do this job were very minimal. The hole was filled with dirt and I was left to re-cement the basement floor

Total cost including abs pipe, 1 clean-out, 90 degree abs and 2 connectors

5.5 Hours = $2365.00 (before tax) = $430 / hr ( 1 guy )

I deal with skilled contractors all the time in fact when the plumber was here I was having new flooring put in my house so I do see different types of bills in different trades from plumbers, electricians etc.

I had my 1st and 2nd floors completely rewired in my house 2 years ago, 4 guys for 4 full days for $4500.00 so what makes a plumber worth $2300 for 5.5 hours.
