Hickory Dickory Decks

I would highly recommend this company. After waiting for other estimates from non-existent contractors, Geoff Aucoin came through with a detailed plan and a fair price in a matter of days. My new composite deck was installed sooner than I expected, approximately one month later. Fred and Art did a fantastic job. This deck is SOLID. They are expert craftsmen shown by their quality work and attention to detail. They showed up early and worked hard all day despite the unseasonably hot and humid weather. The deck was completely finished and the area expertly cleaned within a week. I cannot be more pleased with the results.

We were starting virtually from scratch in terms of concept, design, price and permits of our tiered composite deck. Our HDD representative, Steve Hall, could not have been more helpful. He was extremely patient with us, providing various design suggestions and making additional changes at our request. He was also very transparent re: costing, providing us with several options. The pricing ended up being very competitive. Steve was also very helpful in navigating the building permit process with the City of Vaughan – something with which we were not familiar. This was especially beneficial given our home is located within a heritage area and had additional requirements.

Steve clearly outlined the ultimate construction schedule. All facets of construction were on time. His construction team was very professional and detailed. They were also unceasingly polite, friendly and easy to deal with, despite this summer’s unbearable temperatures. We appreciated the fact that they left the work site clean after each day of work.

The final finished product was of a very high quality. The deck and rails are beautiful. The stairs were quite intricate but their carpentry work was outstanding. The end result is a beautiful outdoor area that is a well used and much loved extension of our home.

This company is the worst in customer satisfaction. I had them install a composite deck from them. The deck fell apart in 5 years. I complained about it. The told me the company went bankrupt and is out of business. So there was no recoarse. A few years later I approached them and they said they would rebuild it at cost for $16000. I shopped around and found a deck builder that rebuilt the deck with the same product for $5000 less and included more features. Do not go with this deck builder until you shop around. Very expensive and questionable customer service. They don't care about you after they got your money.

Bob, Richard and team were great to work with. Unfortunately the heat slowed them down but the wait was well worth it. New deck edge looks fantastic - removed cedar and replaced with composite. The new metal railing looks so fresh ... and low maintenance. Additionally replaced the 'builder grade' rail on front porch with glass panels .... love it! Workmanship is fantastic! Highly recommend and already have done so.

Steve and his team did a great job on our low-maintenance front porch!! (I think the before and after photos say it all!!) Special mention to Summer who is fantastic - very detailed oriented, kept us informed and very committed to her work. Thank-you so much!!

We recently hired Rob Hendriks and his team to build our new deck. From the beginning, we found Rob very professional, friendly and helpful. We really appreciated that he worked with us to design a deck that looked great and also fit within our budget. He was very responsive to our family's needs: we had visitors coming to stay with us for a few weeks in the summer and he managed to fit our deck in between our holidays and the visitors coming. The timing could not have worked out more perfectly! When the job started, the crew worked until the job was done. They kept the work area neat and tidy and when all was said and done, you could hardly tell that work had been done in our back yard. The final product looked great! Rob made sure to go over the finished deck with a fine-toothed comb to fix any imperfections. (He also went out of his way to fix the gate to our backyard that had not been constructed properly!) We are very satisfied with the way the deck looks and feels. We really like the composite product that we chose and are happy with the low maintenance option. We would highly recommend Hickory and Rob Hendriks to anyone looking to build a beautiful deck in a timely and stress-free manner.

We asked Hickory Dickory Decks to install our new deck on the advice of colleagues. We love our new deck and are very happy with it. Thank you to Geoff, the manager, for being patient with our many questions regarding the materials used in the construction of the deck and for helping us to get the paperwork for the permit completed. The installers, Kosal, Justin, and Cameron are fantastic people. They respected our property, were easy to communicate with, and always kept the jobsite clean. We initially thought the price of the job was a bit high, but after seeing the custom railings installed, and the high quality of craftsmanship, we now know that the overall cost was reasonable. Many of our neighbours have now seen the completed work and have been "wowed" by the results. Thank you, Hickory Dickory Decks, for your excellent work. I had initially received a quote from a number of well known and fairly expensive deck builders prior to speaking to Jonathan Boyes and Hickory Dickory Decks. The other deck builders had excellent ideas when it came to design but what set Jonathan apart was that he could incorporate design into a deck that is very well built, will last long, and follows are regulatory requirements for your area. There would be nothing worse then investing a healthy amount of money into a project, only to have it removed later on due to issues with the city. it was very apparent after a short discussion with him that he knew what he was doing, and that ne knew how to build quality work. Jonathan was able to meet his scheduled on time, with no delays what so ever, was good to work with throughout the entire process, and did an excellent job in keep me informed of progress at all times! His team was very professional and paid close attention to detail. Overall we are very happy with the end product, it was built well and was less expensive than his competitors for this price point of the deck. There have already been quite a few of my neighbors asking for Jonathans information so they can build something similar after seeing the craftsman ship of his work.

Steve Hall was wonderful working with! His attitude towards integrating glass panel railings into an existing 14 yr old cedar deck was refreshing. Communication/quoting process was easy and work completed as per the quote.
