My first experience with Derek's service was to remove a large quantity of tree branches I had trimmed myself. Out of the half-dozen or so places I found in the phone book and on the internet, he was the only one that called back. He showed up personally the next day to size up the job, gave me a very reasonable price for it, and a day or two later had his guys in to take care of the cleanup. They left my yard and driveway spotless, and then I knew for sure I was glad no other places had called back!

About a month after, I had an opportunity to get my driveway re-paved at a decent price. The pavers came in and started to prep the ground for new asphalt, then noticed that one of the roots from a mature silver maple tree in front of my house was running into the space they would be paving. We discussed a couple of options (and dismissed them as quickly) before settling on having a tree guy come in to assess and provide a solution.

Naturally, Derek's was the only name that came to mind. I called him up that evening and described the situation -- he came over next day after close of business and determined that the root in question could not be easily removed without compromising the tree. Upon further inspection, it turned out the tree was planted too close to the house to begin with, and would only cause more and more (expensive) problems down the line if left intact. So after some consideration and a fantastic price from Derek -- almost half what my neighbor had received from some other places -- we made the call to take the tree down.

Derek's crew arrived just before lunch hour on Monday morning, and got right to work. It wasn't long before they had the tree down and being fed into the chipper. Derek himself took up the task of grinding out the offending root and the tree trunk's base, leaving a nice pile of wood shreds that will make a great mulch on the small planter along my walkway. He also arranged for a city-contracted curbing crew to take the majority of the logs made from the tree!

In short, I can't say enough good things about Derek, his employees, and his company as a whole. Very reasonable, friendly yet professional, straightfoward, upfront, honest, and takes the time to explain not just the options available, but the reasons for and against each.

His will be the first company I recommend to anyone looking for this superior kind of service -- I know it'll be the first place I call when I look at my backyard trees in the spring!

After researching on Home Stars for a tree removal company, we called several companies. Derek responded the fastest (some did not respond at all) and with the most reasonable quote. He also gave us a couple of options/solutions to our tree problem, which we appreciated.

We needed to remove two large tree branches which were overhanging our house and which were a safety hazard. Although it was a difficult and complex job, Derek and his team did an excellent job removing the thick branches and subsequently removing the debris. Overall, they did the job very quickly and efficiently. and we were very happy with the end result.

They also removed another small tree in our backyard, which we requested.

We found Derek to be very professional, punctual, and straightforward and would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a reliable company to cut down a tree or to trim problem branches.

I found Derek through HomeStars and already recommended his services to a neighbour. I asked him to cut down a small tree and clean up some others so that animals could not get on the roof. He came on time with his crew, they worked fast, did what we agreed on, and cleaned up everything. His price was also a lot better than some of the other quotes I got.

Derek rocks ! We called him - he came quickly and it only took him 3 minutes to give us an estimate. He gave us some advice as well... We called back to confirm the job & Derek said we would call us within a week with the exact date... Guess what ? 5 days later, Derek called and said his team would be there in 2 days at 10:30AM... Well, two days later they arrived at 10:30AM ! Did an awesome job ... they were fast, polite, efficient and cleaned up everything afterwards. Derek even called back that same night to check on us to see if we were completely satisfied? What else do you need ? Like we said, Derek rocks ! Don't shop around - for tree removal and trimming, they are the PRO's to call ! We will call them again !

The company removed 3 trees from my property. I had very positive experience with the company from the start.
Punctuality and very completive pricing were obviously a result of a professional experience gained over the years.
The Company has a very fast and efficient crew of 6.They completed the job in 4 1/2hours while they managed to save our garden from substantial damage.
The work required access to my neighbor’s property for branch removal and clean up. I have had no complains so far from my picky neighbor, which is another proof a job well done.

I needed to have a 40 foot weeping willow removed from my backyard. I called 5 companies and the response varied from no return call to coming a week late for an estimate.. However, Derek returned my call the same day and came out to do an estimate within two days. His estimate was more than fair and he stuck to his committed date for service which was within two weeks. The crew was quick, efficient and the clean up was done well. Derek's follow up after the job was great and it was evident he wanted to ensure that I was satisfied.

Was looking to have several trees removed from my backyard. Called the top 3 rated Tree Service providers on Homestars. One had a full voice mailbox and I left messages for the other two.

Derek called me back the same day, came out to evaluate the job and provide a quote the next day ( a holiday) and completed the work the day after! His team got right to work when they arrived and finished the job quickly. Clean up was great as well.

The neighbour behind us had a dead Norway Maple on their property. They had removed branches from their side rendering the tree a danger to our property. An arborist told us that the remaining branches were very brittle and either a good wind or heavy snowfall would bring it down. We spoke with our neighbour and we were told they had already been in contact with Derek so we went in with them to remove this dangerous tree. Derek's crew were punctual and courteous. The tree came down without incident despite how brittle it was. We would not hesitate but to recommend Derek and his crew very highly. As stated, they were courteous and cleaned up both yards when they were finished. Thank you Derek. We are breathing a lot easier now that the tree is gone.

Derek removed a single birch tree from my back yard. i was actually out of town when it was done. I came home, the tree was gone and there was almost no sign that they or the tree had been there.
Dereks price was good, he was easy to reach and they did a good job.

Derek and his crew did an outstanding job in removing two of our diseased trees, grinding them down, and pruning others that were in need.
