Front and Back Exterior Doors

I had Canadian Choice Windows & Doors in Edmonton to replace both front and back exterior doors. Signed contract in July, was told will install in 4 to 5 weeks. Didn't hear from the company for over 2 months, so decided to call them up end of September to find out, was told they will do it in Mid-October. Install date came around, installer showed up on time and done the job in one day. However, there were some issues that needed to be addressed. Contacted the company a few times, guess they were busy, took them a while to respond. Eventually the issues were addressed. Now everything is all good.
Wish the company has better communication and be more responsive in the future, other than that, we are satisfied.

Front and Back Exterior Doors

My horror story of having Canadian Choice Windows & Doors in Edmonton to replace both front and back exterior doors. Signed contract in July, was told will install in 4 to 5 weeks. Didn't hear from the company for over 2 months, so decided to call them up end of September to find out, was told they will do it in Mid-October. Install date came around, installer showed up and start ripping the old doors out. I told him to save the front and back screen doors for me to re-install them later myself. Turned out the installer didn't speak English, so I called up the company to try and find someone to translate, nobody answered. After a few more calls, I got hooked up to Head office in Ontario, and the operator told me she would leave message for them to call me back. They never call back the rest of the day. Installer wind up destroying the screen doors during the removal process. Nothing further I can do until I can contact the local company later.

Installer went ahead to install doors, meanwhile, I was watching with alarm the poor workmanship. Could not talk to him so I had to let him finish, refused to pay the invoice and deal with the company later.

Problems
1. Two Storm doors suppose to be kept were destroyed and disposed of. (Communication problems in English, Call Local Office numerous times to communicate, no answers. Also contacted Head Office.left urgent messages and no return call till next day.)

2. All the miter joints on door trim don't line up, look awful and unprofessionally finished.

3. Locks were not install properly resulting in locks binding and extremely hard to unlock. Caused damaged to the key (twisted).

4. Quarter round molding trim between threshold and wood floor was removed and not re-install, instead silicone was used to fill the gap.

It was hard to get a hold of somebody at the company, not answering calls at any time, and never return messages. I ended up writing a letter with all deficiencies, drove all the way to the company address to hand deliver the letter. When I got there, door was close and nobody there during business hour. I had to leave it in their mail box.

Finally was contacted and arranged a date to address the issues. The day came, the company also supplied a new lock set to replace the damaged one, but only items 3 and 4 were addressed, and the installer wanted the invoice paid after. Here I was, on the phone with the owner again. Finally he agreed to take $200 off the bill to compensate for the 2 damaged screen doors and I wrote it down on his and my copies of invoice and gave him the credit card number. Big mistake! When I got the credit card statement, I got charged the full amount. Called them up numerous time to give them a chance to rectify the problem, they always said they have to find my salesman and then get back to me. Not surprised, they never did. So I find myself in December writing this negative review.

This company is unprofessional, with poor communication and workmanship. On top of those absolutely lack honour and integrity. Watch out.
