new air conditioner

We had a new AC installed by Applewood Air Conditioning at the beginning of last summer (2014). After a month, it stopped working. They came and topped up the gas and after a few weeks it stopped working again. Called for service and when they came, they determined it was a leaking valve. This didn't sound good to me for a newly installed AC. Needed to get part, which meant another service call. When part was available, they were too busy. In total, we had 4 service calls over 3 months (i.e. over the summer) - the AC has only been functional for half the time.

By September, the AC was still not working properly and we were told we'd have to wait until the spring as they were now getting busy with the heating season. It is now spring and we still do not have a working AC, so we contacted Applewood to get the replacement valve installed, which they did but said they'd have to come back to top up gas because it was too cold outside. When a technician came, he topped it up but then we still experienced problems. Apparently, his gauges were off and he over-pressurized the system. Another service call and they adjusted the pressure. However, once again the AC stopped working. They came and replaced the coil and again it stopped working. At that point we determined Applewood Air were unable to fix the issue with the AC, which they installed, and went with another vendor.

The other vendor immediately identified and fixed the problem that Applewood Air couldn't. We've now gone a whole cooling season with no issues since the other vendor fixed it. I've also submitted a complaint with BBB so that other potential clients are aware of the headaches they may experience with Applewood Air.

In conclusion, go elsewhere for your HVAC.

What could this company do to improve their services?
After sales service needs improvement. It should not be up to the homeowner to have to constantly follow-up to get issues taken care of.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
