Full Basement Development

Full basement reno was completed Dec 2019. Started Aug 2019. The project started off fairly well, we had a scope of work, itemized lists and finishes expectation that we went over with Barry. Agreed upon and proceeded, with drawings supplied to Barry. Mudd Monkey is his company but he is a General Contractor hiring multiple sub trades for the work. No issue if you have good trades that you use. I would hesitate to say they were all really good as I found a number of issues arising from quality of work and following drawings. Trades would have to come back and fix and hold other progress. I wasn't sure about the type of review I would leave until July this year we noticed in the bathroom that there was always a lot of additional condensation in the room and ceiling around the fan area. Had thought the fan under sized, so decided to replace. This is what changed my mind on posting, as I inspected what was required to change the fan I found out the bathroom fan vent was not connected to any exterior ducting, they vented into the ceiling area. Pictures. There's the fan, and the exterior duct that is only attached at the house wall sitting on the ceiling insulation. I called, emailed and resubmitted requests for warranty work from Barry through all means and multiple times. Never did I get a reply after a couple weeks and had to repair on own out of my pocket for $1500, thanks Barry appreciate the year warranty you kept talking about and for all your experience and service you talk I am disappointed. There were other items I was willing to over look where others would have demanded you replace. I won't bash on the whole as I accepted the work in the end but venting to the ceiling is poor detail to overlook and could have caused excessive damage if not caught.
Use if you like but stay on top of the project and check the work through out, only as good as the trades.

Approximate cost of services:
$38,000.00

Company Response

Cory, I’m sorry to hear that you’re dissatisfied with the job and feel something was missed. The trades followed the “drawings” Cory provided. If you’re questioning the quality and accuracy of the work, a more professional blueprint should have been provided, instead of a computer-generated sketch which was very difficult to read. I’m confident in my trades and their work. Cory I would have hoped if you had a concern about my tradesmen, you would have communicated that to me so we could resolved the issue. To my knowledge, the vent was connected properly since it passed city inspection at the rough-in stage. Any issues that arose after said inspection escaped my knowledge due to my surgery and work hiatus and recovery. If communication was missed while I was recuperating, I apologize. However, I pride myself on giving quality work and excellent customer service as my clientele can attest as per my other reviews.
