In 2002 Enbridge Replaced my old furnace with a new high efficiency furnace. They recommended and installed a 80,000 unit Carrier furnace, but my home was never as comfortable as it had been with the old furnace. At the time, I paid $500 extra to have a special filter attached to the furnace (I have allergies). When the time came to install, the filter they attached was not the one I ordered, but they told me it was "just as good" as the one I ordered. When I contacted Carrier to ask about the filter that they installed, they said it was just the normal filter that came with the furnace - at no extra charge. When I called Enbridge back to insist that they take out that filter and put in the one I paid for, the person in charge of things feigned ignorance about the difference between the filters. (If it is your job to sell furnaces and filters, shoudl one not know about the products you sell?) The did finally install the right filter, but it left me with a real sense that they did have integrity when dealing with customers. It gets worse! In preparation for a renovation this year, I had a heat loss study done on my home. The HVAC expert told me they installed a furnace that is way too big for my home. I will have to either replace the new furnace with one that is properly sized for the house, or else I will have to re-do all the duct work and install twice the ducts to accommodate the load from the furnace. Otherwise the city will not approve the renovations. Either way I am out of pocket thousands of dollars. I strongly urge you to avoid Enbridge when buying a furnace or AC! My experience thus far is that they are either not knowledgeable about their products and they certainly have not acted with integrity or professionalism. It has and will cost me dearly.
