John first came to our home to start work in January 2019 for the full renovation of our basement. He had given us a timeline of approximately 4-6 weeks, 10 months later he had yet to complete the job. He is very unprofessional and constantly making promises and not following through. He comes up with quotes out of thin air and conveniently always forgets to send or provide you with any sort of paperwork. Due to being recommended from a friend we were lenient with the paperwork trail. In April of 2019 had to leave to go to Europe for his sons soccer. He took what was the final payment stating that all he would have left to do is the stairs upon he return. He took the money and did not complete any of the work he said he would before leaving (yes we should have never left the money). Upon his return to Canada he came back sporadically pretending to work when he was really just picking up his tools. In May he cease all contact and started working on another home. After tracking him down and confronting him he promised to come back, which he did only to drop of materials we had already paid for. He has not stopped responding to all messages and or phone calls. According to the other home owner he has yet to finish his house and presented the same behaviour of constantly asking for more money and not actually completing the work.
