I used Technobloc pavers in Onyx Black and am extremely dissatisfied with how the colour has held up and more so with Technobloc for not standing behind their claims. I purchased Technobloc only because of their claims of how their product is colour fast and will not fade over time. Gradually the pavers have lightened. I’ve raised a warranty claim with Technobloc head office in Montreal and they repeatedly responded that this is due to efflorescence and they do not warrant for fading due to efflorescence. Their rep used an acid wash to try to remove the efflorescence and the result looks horrible, it still does not return to it’s original darkness. I’ve had these pavers for over two years, everything I’ve read says that efflorescence will go away in two years, this has not. Something is wrong with this stone. A Technobloc sales rep has said that the Onyx Black will fade, I’ve gone to a paving supplier for samples and they said not to buy that paver, that it will fade. Anyone looking at a dark Techno-bloc paver should buy a sample and see how that product performs over time. Here are some photos of my yard, the new paver is a brand new Onyx Black paver, you can see how it’s even faded and it hasn’t even been used yet.
