We live in an old house with the many challenges that come with age; leaking roof, leaky pipes, poor insulation, etc. As relatively new homeowners we don't mind doing most of the work ourselves (google, home depot workshops) but there comes a time when it's certainly best to call in the professionals. However, finding the right professional for the job can be a bit of a nightmare. During the summer we noticed a pipe leaking into the foundation wall running from the basement to a facet on the outside of the house. The facet fed into the garden hose. It seems that the previous owner neglected to drain and open the valve during the winter and the expanding ice split the pipe. Please understand, at first it really didn't seem like a big deal, more of a mess than anything else. Until one day, without knowing the degree to which the pipe was damaged, I turned on the water to soak the plants and streams of liquid began pouring into the basement from seams in the brick around the electrical panel....yikes! So we called one plumbing contractor who seemed disinterested in fully investigating the entire situation and quoted $300. We called a second contractor, who arrived at our house looking tired and seemed not to have bathed in a week. We weren't worried about getting a quote from this person. And then finally we called Robert from Mr. Rooter - GTA. From the moment Robert arrived he made us feel relaxed by taking the time to explain and educate. And as a entreprenuer myself, I really appreciated the time that he spent evaluating our needs. Robert walked us through the technical process, carefully explained the invoicing procedures, and helped us manage costs before agreeing to a final expenditure. Now understand, Robert was by no means the most inexpensive. As a matter of fact his services were the most expensive. But the quality of service and work that he put into what seemed like a simple plumbing job was worth every cent. Let me tell you why..... Often in old houses, previous owners don't think to do job properly the first time for reasons of cost, time constraints, etc. Most jobs related to old houses generally seem to short-sighted as well. What Robert though was going to be a simple job of changing pipes turned into hour upon hour upon hour of trying to correct errors that someone else had sealed into our concrete foundation wall. What impressed me most was his willingness to complete the job, and probably at great expense to himself. A work ethic like Roberts are difficult to come by. I say this much; if you've got a plumbing issue with your old Toronto house and you want no bullshit result...call this guy.

Approximate cost of services:
