Gardner white selling warranties for profit..knowing it doesn't cover the product.

I purchased a leather sofa and chair approximately $2000. The salesperson also sold me an extended warranty which I was told would cover the sofa and chair for damages including manufacturer and personal the leather on the couch begin to bubble on the arm while still under warranty. I called to have the damage fixed and was told yes you have a warranty but it doesn't include top grain leather. My question is why would Gardner white sale me a warranty for my purchase knowing it would not be covered. A million dollar corporation selling false warranties for profit.
