We bought a brand new home and our builder purchased a double garage door from Westwood. The door is made out of MDF and is extremely heavy. From the time it was installed, there have been problems and it requires superhuman effort to open and close it manually. Westwood was supposed to have sent a repairman out a few times and no one showed up. The day he did show, he replaced the springs on the header with the end goal of making the door easier to open and close. Something happened during the repair process and the door started to go up on an angle. He spent another 4 hrs trying to fix the problem and finally got it to a place where he was confident it wouldn't do it again. We installed a garage door opener at this point thinking the problem had been fixed. Big mistake. A week later as we were pulling into the driveway, I pressed the "open" button on my visor and the door went up on an angle and promptly jammed about 6 inches off the ground. At this point I called Westwood to make an emergency appointment to have this fixed. Well, 2 weeks later someone finally showed up. At this point, the company blamed all of the problems on the garage door opener and installation because it wasn't their product and their guys didn't install it. This was ludicrous and completely unbelievable. Because we had "voided" the garage door warranty, they said they would fix the door this time but any future visits would be charged to us. My question at this point was that if they had a quality product, they shouldn't have to be coming back 3 or 4 times to fix the problem. It's a new home and a new garage door so there shouldn't be multiple repairs! I haven't been pleased with the product or service from this company and feel they have failed to take responsibility for a problem that is ultimately their fault.
