We called Smith Excavating when we were having septic water leaking into the house and water running from the leaching bed into our tank (going the wrong way). At first they seemed great and very helpful. But soon disappeared. We had to keep calling to set things up. We were having the basement waterproofed from the outside and when they dug down I could see the pipe between the house and the tank was cracked. Smith's replaced the pipe and ran a camera into the tile bed to see if there were any blockages. No blockage was found and then Smith disappeared. They were suppose to come out to do a exploratory dig, but after 3 months of waiting we ended up going with another company. 4 months after the work was done we got an invoice for $1100. We were a little taken aback as Mike had made it seem that replacing the pipe would be $50 for the pipe and an hr or two of labour. I dug the pipe out and repacked the soil myself. When we questioned the bill it took another 3 months before we received a letter stating that since they had already paid 3rd party vendors that performed the work and were out of pocket, they would not be able to reduce the price. BEWARE!! Make sure you get a quote in writing
