Landscape Contractors & Designers review in Toronto

This is the second time we have hired Angelo with All Pro Landscaping and Carpentry. We were totally happy and 100% satisfied with his work and customer service. We had a fence in the back portion of our driveway that separated our side of the driveway from the neighbors. The fence was falling down, so we hired Angelo to come remove it for us, as well dig up some old planters and extend our driveway. I called him kind of last minute in the season, and he was really great to squeeze us in between other clients. He finished the project really fast and did an excellent job.

In terms of the price of the job, I am not really sure because he is the only quote I got, but I think his prices are fair. Make sure you book him early, because he is really busy.

His office manager (Ann) is also great to work with. She is really friendly, organized and very responsive. We will be hiring All Pro to redo our back yard when we are ready as well.

FOUNDED IN 1985 BY NICOLA TERSIGNI AND 21-YEAR-OLD SON ANGELO, ALL-PRO Landscaping & Carpentry Ltd. specializes in working with clients to enhance the beauty and functionality of the landscape elements that complement and add to the enjoyment of their homes.

A FEW NOTES ABOUT QUOTATIONS . . .
Angelo personally handles quoting and sales. Hours of work are invested in a typical quotation. Rather than providing homeowners with a bulk dollar amount for the entire project, Angelo goes the extra mile by presenting a detailed, typed "contract specification sheet" that breaks the entire project into individual components that specify the materials/dimensions and pricing per component. The quote also specifies applicable warranty, HST and payment terms. Ultimately, for homeowners who choose to entrust their project to ALL-PRO Landscaping & Carpentry, this quotation document evolves into the signed client contract, usually after a number of refinements to align more closely with the client's aesthetic and budget.
> At times during the season, Angelo may temporarily suspend quoting so that he can focus exclusively on current projects and on quotations already in hand.
In this scenario, our office manager invites homeowners to circle back to us at a later date if they are unable to find another contractor with whom they wish to proceed. She also compiles a waiting list of those homeowners who wish to meet with Angelo when he begins quoting again.

IS ALL-PRO LANDSCAPING A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR PROJECT?
During the peak spring/summer period, we receive approximately 20 to 30 quotation requests PER WEEK, sometimes more.
Many of these we need to decline for a variety of reasons. For example, the project site is outside our core service area, or our schedule is already booked during the homeowners’ desired completion timeframe, or the project is not the kind of work we do.
When non-client homeowners reach out to ALL-PRO Landscaping to request a quotation, we are very grateful. We also respect their time and want to ensure that we are a good fit for their projects. So our office manager will ask a few questions before including their information on Angelo’s quotation request call-back spreadsheet . . .

Q1. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Each year, we must decline many quotation requests from homeowners located outside our service area.
Please refer to the “CORE SERVICE AREA” note, above.

Q2. DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT COMPLETION DEADLINE THAT YOU NEED TO MEET?
Some homeowners are working towards a particular project completion deadline such as the date of a backyard wedding or the arrival of visitors from overseas.
> This is important for us to know up front, because the homeowner's desired time frame may no longer be available on our schedule.

Q3. HOW MANY QUOTATIONS ARE YOU OBTAINING?
Conventional wisdom usually concurs that obtaining two or three quotations is prudent for homeowners who do not yet have an established relationship with a trusted contractor.
We respectfully decline to meet with homeowners who are obtaining more than three quotations.

Q4. WHAT KIND OF WORK WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE DONE?
We focus on "HARDSCAPE" construction projects, such as:
=> patios, walkways, steps, porches, garden walls, retaining walls, driveway borders/driveways constructed with precast concrete products and natural stone products.
=> decks constructed with pressure-treated, cedar and composite decking products.
For hardscape projects, we can also incorporate the following:
=> sod, mulch, triplemix, riverstone, ornamental rockery.
=> synthetic grass (usually Rymar Durablade 95 S-Shaped Synthetic Grass).
=> fence and gate structures, constructed with with cedar, pressure-treated or composite materials, as well as custom-ordered ornamental iron fencing from Medallion Fence.
We do NOT install the following:
=> Asphalt. We refer our clients to two trusted companies.
=> Stamped/patterned concrete.
=> Extensive plantings. While we can certainly do some planting of trees and shrubs as part of our hardscape projects, we refer our clients to trusted horticultural technician-designers for extensive garden design.

Q5. WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF YOUR PROJECT?
The HomeStars company PROFILE format includes a field for “PROJECT MINIMUM”.
> For prospective clients, we have set $5,000 as the minimum.
> For our previous clients, of course we are glad to come back to help with any landscape construction job, no matter how small.
> We appreciate that some homeowners may be unable to gauge whether or not their project would be above the $5,000 minimum threshold. Our office manager might be able to help with this when you describe the kind of work you would like to have done.

MEETING WITH ANGELO . . .
Angelo's QUOTATION REQUEST CALL-BACK LIST is updated by the office manager. On that spreadsheet, each request she enters is tracked by initial date of inquiry.
> CALL-BACK TIMEFRAME: During the construction season, Angelo strives to touch base with homeowners within two weeks of the date of their initial inquiry logged on the Quotation Request List (unless he had already placed a temporary hold on quoting before the inquiry was received).
> MEETING TIMEFRAME: During the construction season, Angelo does his best to integrate quotation meetings into his existing project work schedule. Client work always takes priority for him — something which prospective clients are sure to appreciate. During the offseason from approx. December through March, Angelo does quite a bit of quoting for the upcoming season, weather permitting.

During the peak season, Angelo combines jobsite work with sales, scheduling, purchasing, transportation, HR, client relations and other aspects of the business. He is at the jobsites daily. Multiple projects are usually under way. Clients deal with Angelo directly on anything pertaining to their projects. He manages the project schedule, calculates and places the orders for project materials and determines crew member assignments each day in consultation with his onsite Team leader, Dan. His Class AR driver's licence also enables him to minimize production disruptions by serving as the supply lifeline for the jobsites: delivering materials from manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers (paving stones, flagstone, wall systems, steps, boulders, rockery, gravel, screenings, lumber, fencing, topsoil, triplemix, sod, etc.), transporting equipment and materials between jobsites and ALL-PRO’s staging yard in north Ajax, and hauling project debris to transfer stations, for example. He integrates quotations into this schedule.

Garden Renovation

This past spring we contracted ALL PRO to do major upgrades on our property: retaining wall, stairs and walkway to the front door, garden bed wall around the front of the house. We also had them replace the walls and steps for the downstairs walkout (big job). The team; Dan Zack and Al orchestrated by Angelo worked like clockwork. Especially pleased with the way Dan, Zack and Al worked together, the left hand always knew what the right hand was doing. Dan's exactness, measuring and laying the pavers etc. was exceptional. They never left our home without making sure all their equipment was secured and all debris was disposed of. Highly recommend ALL PRO.

Driveway and backyard reno

More than impressed with the work Angelo and team did. They updated my sinking, uneven driveway quickly and professionally. The team came in one day and in a flash my driveway and backyard were updated beautifully. I couldn't be happier with the end result.

Backyard reno

We have worked with Angel for over 25yrs. He has provided us with fencing, walkways, retaining walls and a composite wood deck. This past summer Angelo and his tea"m did a major renovation of our backyard—removing an old wood deck and a 40+ year old cedar hedge, replacing it with a beautiful stone patio that connected to previous walkways All Pro had done in the past. We replaced a pool liner as well which Angelo worked in concert with the pool contractor which made the whole project go smoothly and efficiently.
Angelo and his team were very professional every step of the way and a pleasure to work with. We will be using the team to seal our patio this year and Angelo will always be our go-to person for landscaping projects. Needless to say I highly recommend All Pro Landscaping.

Landscaping and Fencing Upgrade

Contracted Angelo and his crew for a major landscaping project in 2016: replace driveway, install paving stones around driveway, at front and side entrances, install stone steps at front and rear entrances, install paving stone pathway around backyard deck, create retaining wall flowerbeds front and back, and replace a fence and gateway.
All of the work was done to high quality and still looks great 4+ years later. Would definitely use them again for another project.

Increasing our "Curb Appeal"!

It was so exciting to finally plan to get rid of our original builder's basic entrance and install a more appealing walk way! All Pro wasn't our first quote but saw Angelo working in our area installing a gorgeous patio back yard. We were so impressed with what we saw we asked him to come by to look at our project. Angelo and his team were such professionals and a pleasure to deal with, recommending a design that was better than what we imagined and he could provide a time frame that worked best for us. His communication and attention to detail made the entire process so enjoyable. We are thrilled with the result and would highly recommend All Pro Landscaping to our friends!

Rescue Job: My faith in humanity has been restored...

The stone cladding on our front entrance stairs was coming apart. The first contractor demolished the stairs in a decent manner, however, as is all too common, he took some money and never came back. Our front stairs were left in ruins for more than a month as we tried in vain to reach the first contractor. This is where the All Pro team came to the rescue. Despite being busy, they were sympathetic and made the time to help us out with a rescue job. They were professional, courteous, and the workmanship was fantastic. Ann, Angelo, thank you for being so wonderful!

Company Response: When you called the ALL-PRO office, our project construction schedule was fully booked for the season. We were routinely declining invitations to quote on new projects. However, upon hearing your unfortunate story, we tried to find a way to integrate your project into the schedule. It certainly made things challenging for the team, but we wanted to give your story a positive ending.
As it turns out, there was a silver lining. Our crew leader on your project, Dan, is gifted at his craft and improved the original installation. Also, the bagged cement left in your garage by the previous contractor would not have been the optimal material for re-adhering the flagstone to your concrete steps and landing. The material we used is a much better choice for that kind of job. This re-installation project should never have been needed in the first place. The flagstone had been installed only two years ago, but the wrong bonding agent had been used, resulting in the loosening of the flagstone this year.

Angelo and his team did a great job on our retaining wall this fall. We've used Angelo at least four times over 35 years for various outdoor and indoor projects and have always been very happy. He's easy to work with, flexible, and his prices are always fair.
