Job well done! Highly recommended!

Our house was built on cider block foundation without any exterior waterproofing in 1956. The area has very high water table under the ground, I can see water if digging down about 2 feet in the yard. The old clay weeping tile couldn’t keep up to collect and remove the water around house into the sump pit. The previous home owner did interior trench in the basement trying to keep the basement dry. However water in the ground seeping through cider blocks and joints over the years, as results we had water flood in basement in the early 2017. We cut off drywall about a foot high from floor in the basement, found the spots where water coming in, drilled holes to vacuum water out of cider blocks and patched holes with instant waterproofing cement. After sucked out about 50 of 5 gallon buckets’ water, patched more than 2 dozens of spots, water still found its way coming through from the next weakest spot on the cider blocks and joints. It was tiring and endless battle. So we decided that it’s time to do foundation waterproofing.
We called four waterproofing companies to get quotes. Three companies gave us written estimates. Based on our impression from all presentations and estimates, we chose Dryshield.
Jonathan from DryShield shown up on time. He is very professional, courteous and explained the procedures and material in details, outlined timeline and ensured us the job completion and cleanup. He very patiently answered all our questions and concerns. He also strongly suggested to install a new sump pit and pump.
On the first day of the job, Jay and his crew came on time. They are courteous and pleasant to deal with. They put plywood sheets around digging area to protect the lawn. The most part of digging was done by using a small excavator, and hard to reach area was done by hands. Once the entire foundation exposed, cider blocks were cleaned, dried and patched where needed to be fixed before waterproofing coating applied. The crew worked hard and also repaired the broken sump pit discharge pipe outside the house. A new sump pit, a professional grade sump pump and new discharge pipe were installed. After entire exterior waterproofing was done, some water still came out of the wall. Two holes were drilled to release water from inside of cider blocks. Water stopped coming out from one of two holes in few hours, but took several weeks to release all the water from the second hole. The job was done as promised.
We were worried about the effectiveness of the waterproofing, so we haven’t finished the basement wall till today. After having a heavy snow winter, snow melting and ice storms not long ago, we didn’t have any problem with our foundation. The basement is nice and dry.
We are very happy with their waterproofing job.
Thank you very much Jonathan, Jay and your crew!
We highly recommend DryShield to anyone looking for waterproofing contractor.
