Bathroom rebuilds

We were happy to welcome back Gabe and Joe for our second project with them.

With a baby on the way and starting to running out, we had to call in the pros to ensure that our multi-floor renovation would be finished ahead of time.

The guys were extremely helpful in every aspect of the job, communicating initial design concerns, working through small bumps along the way and celebrating project successes.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with the results. The basement bathroom, though a small footprint, looks great and feels large and the top floor bathroom has a perfect layout and looks fantastic.

If you're looking for a trustworthy crew with outstanding workmanship in your home, then look to Palmeri construction for your next project.

Exterior wood cladding work

Gabriel and Joe were very creative in resolving tricky exterior woodwork (exterior wall cladding, fascia trims, new porch columns with wood encasement) on our 100 year old house. They are very professional, true to their word and their estimate, and importantly, schedule commitment. Gabriel and Joe are also excellent with their craft, and my wife and I are very happy with the quality of the work that they provided to our house!

Frank,

Thank you for such a wonderful review, Although we work on quite a number of century homes within the city, this one in particular was tricky. With out of level walls and mother nature hitting us with bad weather, it was quite a challenge to say the least. All in all it turned out beautifully moreover we enjoy a challenge.

Drywall, framing.

After many attempts at finding a Contractor to come in and quote us on our renovation needs, (and not being called back from most of them!) I went onto Homestars to look into hiring someone who would assist us with our drywall project. I called 2 people on Homestars. Both called back right away, but one cancelled his home visit on the day he was scheduled to arrive. Gabriel stuck to his word. He came in, was the utmost professional, listened to what we wanted done, asked thoughtful questions, and got back to us with a quote within a week. What struck me about Gabe was his honesty and the feeling that I could trust him. His quote was reasonable, not the cheapest of the two that we received, but well worth it after we started working with him. My husband was home while the work was being completed, and he called me everyday to give me a progress update, and went on about how much he liked Gabriel and his partner in crime, Joe. They went out of their way to impress us, adding little touches and details free of charge, and always checking in to make sure that we were pleased. If we questioned something, he listened. And if we wanted something done a slightly different way, he listened and accommodated us. Gabe and his brother in law Joe were pleasures to work with. The project looked great when it was done, and we won't hesitate to contact him again with several more projects that we will need done within the next year. Gabriel can do a mean drywall but he knows how to do so much more than just that. We plan on contacting him for our kitchen reno, bathroom reno, and floors once we have saved up more money. We trust them and they do excellent work.

Kitchen backsplash

We love our kitchen backsplash! We renovated the kitchen a while back but never got around to finishing the backsplash. After Gabriel and Joe came and completed the backsplash, we felt that it made a significant difference. They were hardworking, professional, and very honest people. We really enjoyed working with them and will definitely call them up if we decide to work on other areas of the house.

Drywalling and Window and Door Trim

Gabriel and Joe did an exceptional job on the drywalling and finishing of our living room and front hallway. Gabriel was prompt in showing up to give us a quote, which was honoured by the end of the job. No surprises. We were so pleased with the drywalling that we hired them to finish the window and door trim as well as baseboards -- which they again completed on time and to a degree of perfection that my late father, a carpenter, would have appreciated. We are planning on having them back again soon to do a stone floor as well as work on our porch. As do-it-yourselfers who have done much of the work in our home up until recently, my wife and I have had much trepidation about hiring contractors (and we have had some unhappy experiences) but Gabriel and Joe at Palmeri have put our fears to rest. We recommend them highly.

Built closets, drywall, installed vanity

Gabriel and Joe were great to work with - professionals from start to finish. They provided us with honest advice. They certainly weren't the lowest estimate, but their attention to detail, craftsmanship, responsiveness, and professionalism were well worth the price. They finished the job on time and on budget. They showed up when they said they would and when we thought there was a issue post renovation completion they showed up the same day to investigate. I recommend Plameri Construction.

Kitchen renovation

This is the latest review for the work Gabriel and Joe did for us. It was our kitchen renovation. We waited to leave on vacation so that most of the work could be done while we were away. We obvously trust Gabriel and Joe very much to do this and left them in our home for 2 wks. They were very conscientious about their nightly close up and the situation worked very well.
Although we did not order customized kitchen furniture, we did our measurements over and over to make sure that the stand-alone Ikea cabinets for our new kitchen would fit and were aware that there would be a significant amount custom cutting done to fit the pieces into place.
Gabriel and Joe certainly had their work cut out for them. Theyfirst demolished the upper cabinets so that our kichen would be more open and let in more light and then replaced an unstructured bulkhead and partial dividing wall as the lathe and plaster was falling apart. They laid a brand new, beautiful hardwood floor in for us matching it as best they could to the adjacent living room floor that existed previously, and then began the gruelling task of assembling and finally custom fitting 2 large, oddly shaped, pre-fabricated Ikea base cabinets. This was no easy task as plumbing and electrical had to be altered and the cabinets had to be custom cut in various places.
The expertise required to handle this oddly shaped and very old kitchen challenged these men and they effortlessly seemed to rise to the challenge and completed it in a reasonable amount of time and with a beautiful outcome, especially given the level of difficulty they were faced with. We were significantly impressed.
The final result was a seamless and fresh looking kitchen that offered more light, ease of use and ultimate function. We are very happy in our new kitchen and wish we had done it sooner. We will be calling them again to help us to replace a few doors and do some custom wood work sometime in the Spring.

Ceiling leveling + drywall and more

My wife and I live in a 90-year-old semi in East York which was in dire need of some work. After it was stripped down to its bones and we ran out of steam finishing the kitchen, Gabe and Joe came to the rescue to finish off our wonky ceilings.

I felt at ease from the first meeting with Gabe, as he was open and honest about his work on other houses, provided us with pictures of his other work, referred us to his homestar reviews and was recommended by a friend of ours and previous customer of Gabe's.

Things only got better from there. Gabe and Joe were on time every morning, insisted that they clean up at the end of each day and offered countless suggestions about my own renovations as well as those they were working on at the house. And they were in good spirits the entire time they were working and that goes a long way in my books as a consumer.

The house looks 100 times better now, so we're completely happy. Quality work by quality dudes. A definite recommend.

structural beams, new sub-floor, hung in-door doors, dry-wall, new base-boards/shoe moulding and kitchen installation

Very reliable company, always on-time, in-line with quotation and did not cut corners to speed up the job. The work quality is very professional and we are pleased with the overall end result. We would highly recommend this company to our friends and already have done so.

Jacks of all trades; shower tiling, front porch railing, stair landings and new door

This was the second time we called Gabriel and Joe to come and look after a number of things we needed done to make our 100 year old home a little nicer to live in. Our first project with them took place in January and after the work was done, we knew we couldn't be happier hiring anyone else.

Our 100 year old home has badly needed some upgrades. We have already touted Gabriel and Joe's extensive skills in all the work they touch, but to be specific, what follows are the various projects they worked on most recently for us.

Our shower had to retiled. Easy enough, until you open up our walls. This became more of an extensive job than my husband and I had thought and added a couple of days onto the project as an unsupported partial chimney head was found in the wall behind our shower. An unexpected find, Gabriel and Joe fairly ballparked and requoted the original estimate. After doing the extra work, so began the masterful tile work that Joe is so well known for. The work is absolutely seamless, gorgeous; especially given the difficulty of slightly curved walls and uneven ceiling due to bad past drywalling by previous owners. The amount of time put into this project is obvious and well worth the gruelling effort as the effect is perfectly tiled walls. I have to mention the teams' design flair. I felt confident enough to let them choose the specifics of the tiles based on previous design work, and I only specified that white be used as a base to match the rest of the porcelain in the bathroom. With this creative liberty Gabriel and Joe chose serene and appropriate detail tile (more or less a mosaic type introduction) fixed at eye level and surrounded this with simple white tiles with striations pulled from the mosaic work in brick pattern layout.

During the time that Joe worked on the tiling, Gabriel worked on building a new set of risers and landing in our living room. The risers on the other side of the stairs were removed as access to the upstairs was available from 2 sides. A contractor with a passion for carpentry and an extremely gifter wood-worker, Gabriel spent a good deal of time on this project, as the risers would be clearly visible at all times being in the front room. The work is simply flawless and much was done without us asking in terms of fine detail and care to make this project stand out yet still blend with the room. The fine carpentry details speaks of the original age of the home. The 2 orignal additional landings for this stairwell were given the same look (as well as being structurally enforced as per necessary) as the one that was newly built so that there was consistency in design. The hardwood that was laid on all three of these landings is smooth and absolutely creak-free now!

The two final projects we had Gabriel and Joe work on were for the front of our home; the railing on the front porch and the front door. Although a deck existed from previous builders before we found the G&J team, our front deck needed a railing. Our goal was to add some privacy to our front porch (as the front window looks into the living room) and to provide additional curb appeal to the front of the house. The deck skills of these guys are phenomenal and it didn't take long before they were done (despite the correction of more structural issues stemming from previous builders). The railing adds so much more than just visual appeal. It is truely a pleasure for us to enjoy the front of our house as an extension of our home; this is a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

The older homes on our street, like ours, lack windows and therefore light. We insisted on changing the front door so that we had a half light window. We also anticipated changing the storm door so it was full length glass. From all the jobs done before to the door frame, the framing was uneven and crowded. A LOT of wood came out of the doorframe and after much work on rebuilding the frame and fitting the new front door, the doors and frame look neat, tidy and much more even than before. After all of the installation, the doors are so wonderful to use; so quiet and smooth and offering so much more light than before. The guys even saved us money by fixing the existing storm door so that it opened and closed more efficiently, effectively and much more quietly. I can't even hear the door open and close now.

Gabriel and Joe are probably the most important investment we have made in our tiny, narrow, doll-house like home and they provide us with much peace of mind. They are careful, considerate, honest, patient and hard-working individuals. Their work is done with diginity and a set of values from another time.

They never once have complained of just how difficult we know it must be to haul large tools and materials into our tiny house and to work in less than a 950 square foot space. They try their best to provide us with the most valuable and cost-effective strategies to design and rebuild so that we get the best use and value from our home. They have really taught us how wonderful your quality of life can be with a few simple design decisions and some hard work - which they save us much of! We value their opinions and expertise and we always feel our home is in good hands. We will be sure that we use them for our soon-to-be kitchen renovation later this summer.
