I was quoted $89 for a service call. First visit the technician was unable to diagnose the issue as he did not have his signal meter, therefore didn't charge.
Second visit he removed the rotor and lowered the antenna which took approximately 30 minutes.....max total 1 hour with channel scanning and signal strength verification.
Reasons for extra charges:
It's a lot of work
We didn't charge you for the first call
You are saving over $700 a year by having an antenna
How many guys can get up on your roof and do this installation?
All of the money goes to the service technician.......I don't keep a cent.
Service technician was friendly and knowledgable and able to effect repair very efficiently. Mike's reasons for extra charges were not convincing to me. Ask lots of questions in advance to determine the "real" cost for your repair/service.
My Plasma TV stopped working and took the tv to Sal for an estimate. He was honest and said the plasma leaked out and it was not repairable.
I was told by another company before this that they can fix it for $500.00
