I will never recommend Careful Movers to anyone. Save yourself frustration and choose someone else. Rather than write a lengthy review, here is a summary of my experience: - Used Careful Movers to do a simple condo move - The move itself was ok. I did notice that the movers move as quick as someone who is getting paid by the hour (i.e. slowly) and if I hadn't picked up some boxes, it would have taken much longer. They also didn't bring a dolly so each box was moved individually. - After the move, I noticed some damage on my custom made dinning room table. - It took a couple weeks to get Careful Movers attention to look at my damage claim. - After posting a negative review on Homestars, Careful Movers encouraged me to delete the review so they could come look at the damage - I was then told they would bring one of "their people" over to fill the damage to my table so I wouldn't have to pay the $450 damage claim processing fee - In order to reduce further damage to the table, I did not allow the table to be filled with a wood filler and have tried contacting the head office to discuss the damage. - I am currently waiting for a response. I will update my review after I talk with someone in the Head Office regarding the damage to my table. Careful Movers had to deal with a broken down truck on the morning of the move and still manged to get a new truck, and show up only a few minutes late from the scheduled time. The movers were friendly and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. There was some damage to a dining room table, however, Austin was quick to respond and send someone to look and assess the damage.1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
The movers themselves were ok. There were truck problems that caused them to be late, but this thing happens to the best of us, so it is hard to find fault in a random event like that. Overall the move went smooth and my walls were not damaged. I have to admit that if I didn't pick up boxes and run them down to the truck myself, the move would have taken a lot longer. The movers were also friendly, but that means they wanted to talk more than move, which is pretty convenient when you are being charged on an hourly basis. I didn't enjoy being asked on a minutely basis why I was moving and why the location I chose was not good. These comments came from a guy who would lift his shirt to rub his bare belly in front of me and my girlfriend. It was also strange that they came without a dolly...I am not a moving company, but it seems obvious to me that a dolly would speed things up. Finally, after reassembling my dinning room table, I found deep gouges from the move. I have sent emails (with pics) and phoned several times with no response. Not even an acknowledgement email from Austin when I emailed pictures of the damage. I can only assume that once I paid my invoice, that was the end of the transaction and they are hoping over time I will lose energy to complain about the damage. Very frustrating and unprofessional.
